What's up

My goal for today is to try to finish my nested churn dash quilt.  But I'm not sure if that's going to happen. I had to have my friend Mary help me this weekend to figure out how to put the blocks together. I was just puzzled how I would do it, you would think after working on it for so long I would have it all planned out to the end.  But no! We decided to go with a dark sashing and yellow cornerstones.  But that's as far as I got, now I have to decide what am I going to do for the outside. Will I continue with the dark all the way around  or will I go with a lighter fabric all the way around. I know what I want for the binding. I'm going to do a scrappy binding. Now if there's anyone out there have any ideas of what they would do, I would love to hear them because I am auditioning at this time. I would really love to get this done this week and check it off my list. While deciding I am going to finish this lap quilt

My Sunday

It has been a very relaxing Sunday for me. With the new cold front that came in today it was a great day to to watch a good movie and do some handwork. I had prep the first block of Morning Glory's BOM,  Columbine  I know the picture she has is with a black background but I wanted to do mine in an off white sateen. I just love the look of sateen. We watched the movie Boyhood. I thought it was so nice to see the actors all age naturally. I felt it displayed real life. And then we watch the first few episodes of Longmire on Nexflix. I was so pleased when they picked up that series after A & E dropped it.  I'm going to link this up at Kathy's Quilt and I hope you'll go check out all the others who have too.

Rainbow Challenge on Steroids

I've done it again, let time slip away. I have been meaning to write this for the past week and I'm finally now getting to it. I do have a good excuse, I been very lucky to have all this week for sewing and prepping applique blocks.  But what I wanted to share was my blocks that I made for this months RSC15. Not just mine thou, I also wanted to show the blocks that the ladies in the 30's club we have at a local quilts shop, Sager Creek Quilts.  How this came about was last month at our meeting I mention how I have been particapating in RSC for the past couple of years and how it is a fun way of using up my scraps. I ask if anyone wanted to join me this year. To my surprise they all say they wanted to, there is 12 of us. And being that our group is focused on the 1930's, the majority  have done their blocks in 30's reproduction fabric. Also since we started last month, this month was the first time we we able to show our block so we have blue and some pink

Yarn Along - Is A Stash Buster

I can say that these projects are being made with yarn I had left over form previous ones. I have wanted to try making sock two at a time.  So I'm using 2 Socks at-a-Time, Toe-Up, Magic Loop by Very Pink Knits. Here is a link to a youtube video I haven't gotten very far as you can tell. I also started some slipper using a new pattern and the yarn leftover from "the little dudes" slippers, just didn't take a picture yet. I'll tell you more about this pattern and another one next week. There is more to it then just the pattern and I would like to get all my facts straight and such. Now for what I'm reading. It's not a novel or biography (which I love) No this is something that pleases my  geek side. I had heard about this on TV and just knew I had to find it.  And I have already used a few of the tips already. This book if full of tips and trick you can use whether it's your phone, tablet, computer or camer

Up on my design wall today is one of my UFO's  My Nested Churn Dash Blocks. I have 7 of the 9 blocks done, so I only need to get those 2 done and figure out how I want to set them. Saturday of Scrappy Sewing

RSC15  January's Blocks I had gotten a late start working on these blocks. Part of the reason was I was away for part of the month but the main reason is I couldn't decide which pattern(s) I wanted to do.  Yeah I know, I have a list of UFO's a mile long and what am I thinking about by even starting another quilt,  let alone 5 . Yes I said 5. Call me crazy but I can reason it out in my mind with the fact I have tubs of scraps that are needing to be used. And even after making all these blocks I believe the tub has gotten bigger. Before I started Afterwards     See w hat I mean.      I believe I have             created a             monster. So here are my blocks The pattern is Red Letter Day by Camille Roskelley for  Thimble Blossom available here for purchase This is a free pattern here on  wedding dress blue This one I am using Creative Grids Curvy Log Cabin Trim Tool. I am going to make c

Yarn Along

It's been awhile since I have shared any of my knitting or crocheting projects.   I finally finish the crochet slippers I made for "the little dudes" Thomas the Train I had to remake them cause the first set were too small. Seeing how they live over 1200 miles away I couldn't try them on before I got too far.  I could not get a good picture of the boys wearing them. You know how hard it is to try to get them to stay still.  They really like their slippers. What I'm reading right now is Little Farm In the Foothill. I can so relate to the author. It's a fun read. and listening to  I made a goal for myself to read at least 25 books this year. I would like to have around 10 of them to be ones I've read and not listen to. I can listen to a book a lot faster than I can read. But I do enjoy reading. To keep track of my progress I'm making a list of the ones I read and listen to this year. If interested y
