Some sewing going on

I can actually share some sewing this time. Was able to finish 3 of the 4   Farmers Wife  blocks   for next month's 30's club. I wrote earlier that had only 3 months left counting this set but I was wrong, it's 4. Still that's not much. I can say that I have becomed better at paper piecing and using freezer paper is my favorite way. I do know... I do not like tearing paper away. It felt good to spend time sewing and quilting. This evening was devoted to working on blue Rocky Road. I'm now working on the outer rows, which I'm starting on right side now, with help of course. Wanted to show you how big my chicks have gotten. They are now 2 months old and they look like hens, little one but hens all the same We have them out in the shop in a big round stock tank with a chain linked gate as a cover. 4 months from now they should start laying which we be good cause as of now the 6 old "freeloaders" h

Yarn Along

WOW!!! I knew it had been a while since I have participated at Small Things with Genny. In fact March 23th was the last time. I haven't  been knitting much but have been weaving on the little loom I bought this year. I have wrote about my little cricket here   . My plan is to share the scarfs I had woven the past few month but not in this post, soon tho. But Monday I was putting a few things away and came across this pattern for a Knitted Santa Cup Cozy I had printed off from here . This afternoon I finished the pieces and attached the arms and put on the buttons. Had a good collection of red buttons to pick from. So what do you think? Cute..... but not sure how useful. This would mainly be decorative for me. Maybe candy canes!! I have read a bunch.  So many to just put in this post, it would take me all night    What I thought I would do is give you a list of some of my favorites I read. Devil in White C

Being a Slug

I have had a very slow Sunday, moved in slow motion all day....still  am. One task I did that was perfect for being slow was rewinding the yarn I have.  Started with this tub and decided to wind the yarn up thinking it would take up less space in the tub. Wasn't sure until I did it. It did but as much as I thought. Enough that I could add this bag before after  and a few other loose yarn around the house. Now with the bag and the few stragglers added to the tub and it's now full.  Now that, this was done I went on to mark some of the Rocky Road I'm quilting on. I know it's hard to see the blue marker I used. Then Pete felt he needed to help me out some but I don't find him sitting on it a big help Then I was thinking about Christmas and the quilts I have and ones I would like to do.  Which made me think about this one I had finished, thought it was quilted but can no

This week happenings

Looks like I've done it again, a whole week has passed without one day of writing. I have been trying to break this one bad habit for a while now, among many other bad habits I have also. Focusing has been an issue with me the past year. In fact I made that my word for the year last year, and I tried very hard to stay on track. Well that's and along with my energy deflating, plus the past few months I've been having anxiety attacks and bouts of despair and such during the day. So I finally went to the dr. and we had the talk about hormones and menopause. She has me on a natural HRT right now. They say it can be 4 to 6 weeks before I see changes and I have to say I've seen good improvement in my moods. My hair loss and other things I haven't noticed too much change, but it's only been a few weeks now. I'm hoping that it will help with my focusing too. I know part of it is a bad habit that has been created from this past year. So enough  about menopau

Friday Finishes

I have been busy but not at sewing the past week Was able to make a few blocks of the Retro Air-Ship Propeller. If you hadn't read all about earlier this month about how Karen and I are both making. You can see the post here about the pattern and how to get free copy or one to purchase. I can add here that after writing that post, Deb at Frugal Little Bungalow  decided she was going to join in the fun. I think that is wonderful and I think the more the merrier. Well started out with this block Now my thoughts were this was going to be a good pattern to use up some of the fat quarters and scraps. Which is what I'm going to do, Here are the two we decided we would make for the month. But if know anything about me I sometimes can just stop when I find a good idea.  This is a 1930's pattern and I do have a large collections of 30's reproduction fabric. Which was obvious when it came to moving it out of the sewing room. Came across a tub o

Debut of floors

Been busy this past week putting furniture and some items back in the house.  With that said I still do not have it all in place but enough where I can give a good idea of what was before and what is now. My house was built in 1982 and had all original carpet and vinyl.  carpet was in ever room except kitchen and back bathroom, my bathroom did have carpet which was eliminated. Carpet was brown and the vinyl was a dark tan with a darker pattern which made the house dark. My goal was to lighten it up without going white.  So here are before and after pics I think I was able to get a brighter look in the kitchen. Turned out so much better than I thought, I was really worried this tile would be too big and not look good together but it does. No more carpet ...... YEAH!!!!! Got the tile look but the warmth of the vinyl. Don't we love our hexagons  I can not say enough on how much I like this carpet. It's so soft, clean and br
