so hot

This squrriel is way too hot. I caught him just stretch out there on the fence in the shade. He stayed that way for quite awhile. There is just no relief.

Oh what a beautiful morning

What a beautiful sunrise it was. Mornings are my favorite time of the day. Something about the light in the morning, just makes me in awe of all that is created. I went to T-Town today and then had to wait for the A/C repairman this afternoon. Never fails, we're in the middle of a early heatwave and the A/C desides to quit yesterday. Oh I am so in appreciation for this morning sunrise. My ray of hope. And A/C back on  "Whoopi" I did finially finish this doll quilt. It only took 4 years from start to finish. You would of thought I had been working on a king size quilt. But it was one of those project's I would work on then put it aside for another, then another, work on it and again put aside. I have a bad habit of doing that. Really need to concure that demon.

Lets go green

I want to talk gardening. Even thou I did not do any today. I did more cow work but I'm tired of dishing the bull  ? .  I want introduce you my garden (veggies that is). I have fenced in a space for my raised beds. Something I have had to do because of Bambi and all their relations. The first pictures are from April before I started getting plants in. Boy were they a mess. I have right now 4 boxes 4x26 and 5 boxes 4x18 with room for 3 more 4x18                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   I have cleaned them up and put in the spring crops of potatoes, onions, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower That cold snap in May, killed the cauliflower. I was surprised

Eye Candy

Today was our small group who meet under the direction of Chris Clardy.  It is always well worth the drive for me. You see it is, about 45 miles from my home. I know its a way but it is a pretty drive most of the way.  Today we had quite a few quilts shown. Here are just a portion of them. This is one of Donna's A. This was a family heirloom. Made by her grandmother for her brother. Isn't this the sweetest little horse pattern. Lots of detail in stitching. This was Kathleen's anniversary quilt. Each block represent someone in her family. Love the flag. This a one of Marcia R. Just gorgeous, Marcia does beautiful work After seeing this taste of what was there. Would you not think it was worth the drive

oh boy what a morning

I remember asking my oldest girls if they would move to Oklahoma. They said, "Oh no Mom, its too rural and not exciting."  Well they needed to be here this morning. Alan was getting ready to go to work. So he went to check a heifer that was in the corral because she was really close to calving. We like to have them close by just in case there are problems. I went to let the chickens out of the hen house. I was done and went to where Alan was. He said she is in the process of having her calf. So we got our cups of coffee and a pair of binocular and sat in his truck a way back by the chicken coop. We had been watching for a while and things were going slow. So I was checking out the chickens when all  of a sudden there is a  SKUNK in with the chickens. That is not a good thing. At the same time, Alan tells me we are going to have to help the heifer. So he goes to get what was needed and I go to take care of getting rid of the SKUNK . Now please excuse me  for not stopping and

Hello

I have been thinking about starting this for some time now and decided it was now or never. My goal is to share a part of what I do here at the farm raising cattle, chickens ( for personal enjoyment ) and growing organic veggies. But just part of my life, then there is the real passion quilting, knitting and embroidering. This will be a learning experience that I am looking forward to and hope I can bring some enjoyment to you.  Love to here comments of all sorts. Especially one to help me through this new endeavour.

another block done

I just finished  this block    The snowman quilt is a pattern that Marilyn McSpadden of Kansas designed. I think it is one of the cutest snowman patterns out there. Right now it is being offered as a BOM at Sager Creek Quilts and Yarn works   I know that it is still available.                             The block to the right is another quilt I have started that was offered  as McCall's pattern. It is also in a book called Fancy to Frugal. I just fell in love with this pattern  I did stay with black for the points and centers. Something about the striking contrast I just had to do. Right now I only have two of the sixteen done. But they do not take too long to do. This has been a good project for using up some of my 30's fabric This block I just finished this block this evening. It too was offered as a BOM in 2009 at the Rabbit Lairs in Rogers Ark.  Kay Harmon picked the fabric and color choices.Kathleen Myers did an overdye to  the fabric. The pattern
