Apple Pie Jam

I have been wanting to make a new jam flavor for a couple of weeks now. The last one I had done was Tomato Jam. It was the first time for that one also. I thought it had turned out tasty. But this jam here is very tasty. A spicy apple jam with little pieces of apple. It is suggested to warm up and put on pancakes or use as a glaze for pork. If you like to make jams too, you need to try this apple pie jam . I will keep posting new jams I find and try. Today I think I'll share these jams with the ladies that meet at the 30's Club I attend at Sager Creek Quilt Shop. We have fun and this will fit right in with resourcefulness that the 30's portrait.

knitted slippers

I don't know about you but since I knit and crochet I am asked on occasion if I would like some yarn others are giving away. Usually it is a worsted weight, acrylic yarn.   Now that there are so many natural fiber yarn available now, I have very few uses for these types of yarns. But one good use are these slippers. I would say these are very practical and sturdy slippers. I make them often and have for a long time. When I was around eight years old my Aunt Jerri taught me how to knit. This pattern she taught me shortly after that. Very simple pattern It take two skeins of yarn. Can be the same color or they can be two different colors. Example Red/Green, Green/Yellow, Lt Pink/Dk Pink. Need size 8 needles With both yarn together, CO 39. Pattern for heel; K13, P1, K11, P1, K13.  Continue this pattern for each row until it is the length of your heel Decrease 3, Knit the rest of the stitches (36). Decrease 3, Purl the rest of the stitches (33) Continue in a stoc

Fowl Week

Some of the older girls I haven't yet introduced my flock of chickens. Now I call them "the girls". I have now 29 hens and one rooster. 14 of the girls are older hens and I added 15 new girls just recently. These are a few of the new girls Aren't they just gorgeous. I do not have names for them except for the rooster. He thinks he is such a stud, so my husband has named him. Here he is the "LOVE MACHINE"   So that's him, Love Machine. Quite a looker. Well the girls have had a very trying week.  I told you about last Friday and the SKUNK . Now if that was not enough. We had a raccoon get one of the hens. One of the older girls. I have been lucky (really should say the girls have been lucky), this is the first time this year for the raccoons. Usually around Mother's day we'll lose one or two. That is not the fun part to raising chickens. I do not like losing any of them. Then the other day I went in to the hen house to collec

What's up

I have a friend Mary, who will text or email me with "Kat, what have you been up to". So this phrase is inspired by her. I'll use it to show what is up on my design wall. Right now I just started a quilt for my oldest daughter who is having a birthday pretty soon. Now I know, I will not have it done in time but it will be shortly afterward. She loves purple. So the whole thing will be done in  purple. The pattern is called 'Sugar Twist". It is made from 2 1/2" strips. So far I have only 12 made but they go together fairly quickly. This picture for some reason does not show how purple the purple is. Right now I'm taking all my pictures on my iPhone. I really need to get a new camera. I read a blog called Pioneer Woman and she has same good advice on photography and equipment. Plus her blog is just fun to read. Till next time Kat =^..^=

so hot

This squrriel is way too hot. I caught him just stretch out there on the fence in the shade. He stayed that way for quite awhile. There is just no relief.

Oh what a beautiful morning

What a beautiful sunrise it was. Mornings are my favorite time of the day. Something about the light in the morning, just makes me in awe of all that is created. I went to T-Town today and then had to wait for the A/C repairman this afternoon. Never fails, we're in the middle of a early heatwave and the A/C desides to quit yesterday. Oh I am so in appreciation for this morning sunrise. My ray of hope. And A/C back on  "Whoopi" I did finially finish this doll quilt. It only took 4 years from start to finish. You would of thought I had been working on a king size quilt. But it was one of those project's I would work on then put it aside for another, then another, work on it and again put aside. I have a bad habit of doing that. Really need to concure that demon.

I was surprised
