yeppe I can start

It came and I have my fabric picked and now I just have to decide what I will use as the border fabric. This is the fabric I picked, it is the Adelaide collection by Michelle Hill. Like I mention I have to decide what will take the place of the red dot fabric. I was thinking maybe one of these Or maybe one of these, just do not know yet I said I was going to make this my winter project, so you could say I have a little time but I am so excited I'm not sure I can wait. I am suppose to be getting issue 2 and 3 also but I heard they are waiting for a shipment. I was able to get the magazine from the shop Buggy Barn, which I was surprised, it's not really what I think of them having. Not their style but I glad they do. Till next time Kat =^..^=

Fun Time

I hope y'all had I good Labor Day. I did and our weather took a turn for the better. The man of the place and I went to Prairie Grove, Arkansas to the Clothesline Craft Fair. This was the first time we had ever been there and it was a fun event. I found a few items that just had to come home with us. I even poised myself for a picture on an antique tractor I really need to bring "the man of the place" into the 21st century. I sat there for probably five minutes before he was able to figure out how to use my i-phone's camera. It was fun to sit there on that tractor and  it was very popular with the crowd for I had to wait for my turn. Why, I'm not sure, other than it was only 1 of 3 Fords tractors among a mess of John Deer's. I told  "the man of the place" I need a tractor this size, his are a lot bigger and I look good on this one. I found this gentlemen who made wooden boxes out of all different types of unusual woods. He had ones made out of  sassa

Patiently Waiting

I have been fascinated with this new Australian magazine Vignette by  Leanne Beasley. I have been reading about it and seeing projects from it, like the mystery quilt she has going. I have ask around at various quilt shops and no one knew anything about it. Then I looked it up on internet as to where to order, for a while there I could only locate distributors out of the U.S. and that meant outrageous shipping fees. Then I came across the Vignette in Stitches Blog   and from there was the link to Leanne's blog  where I found stores in the U.S. that carry the magazine. If you haven't seen or heard of it, it has been out for months now and issue four is being released. So being able to get the first 3 issue is part of the challenge. I did and now I am just waiting for them. I love to embroider and the mystery quilt is a combination of pieced blocks and embroidered blocks. When it comes I'll know more about fabric requirements, then I can start going through my stash. I plan

Carrot Cake

What's that saying, "The way to a man heart is through his stomach." That hold true to the "the man of the place" and the quickest way is my Carrot Cake. He is what I would call a Carrot Cake connoisseur. He will try every ones cake and then tells me what he thinks of it. So today I have made him a cake. But what he doesn't know is that I took my recipe from my Better Homes Cookbook and made it a healthier version. I would like to share it with you. I'll give you the original recipe and then what I did to change it. Now I can not tell you what all the changes are as far as calories, fat, carbs, etc. But it is a dessert  and I look at it a special  treat. Original Recipe. 2 cups flour 2 cups sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. Cinnamon 3 cups finely shredded carrots 1 cup oil (that's right 1 cup) 4 eggs Now here is my revision, 2 cups whole wheat white flour - This is less noticeable then plain WW. 1 cup sugar -  I w

Let it Snow

I'm dreaming of a winter wonderland, or at least a cool down. The weather forecast for this part of Oklahoma is saying that in a couple of days we are suppose to have cooler temps. After this past summer I'm  ready   The snowman quilt I'm working on needs snowflakes. I know how to crochet (not well) and I thought I would give it a shot at making them. This is the results of my first attempt. (After ripping it out at least 6 different times, trying to figure out) I know, maybe I should stick to knitting. At least I know how to do that . And if all else fails Hobby Lobby sells them in bags. And looking at the quilt there are a few (dozens) snowflakes on it. That bag is looking good. Till next time, Kat =^..^=

Something was Hopping here

Let me tell you I had the surprise I would of never expected. I had gone to the bathroom to you know do a natural thing and what did I find but this little Kermit on my toilet seat.  Now how in the heck did he get in there. We are on well water and have a spetic system. Then on top of that I have 2 cats. After the shock of finding a frog on the seat, I had a good laugh. I want to pass it along. So I have a few jokes Q: Why are frogs so happy? A: They eat whatever bugs them! Once upon a time, a beautiful, independent, self-assured princess happened upon a frog in a pond. The frog said to the princess, ” I once was a handsome prince until an evil witch put a spell on me. One kiss from you and I will turn back into a prince and then we can marry, move into the castle with my mom and you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children and forever feel happy doing so.” That night, while the princess dined on frog legs, she kept laughing and saying, “I don’t THINK so.” A librari

Finially, fingers crossed

Now I just love having the Internet and all but I am having troubles with the server or something and I am so frustrated I could spit nails. I have been trying to post this since last night. So I am making it quick just in case I lose my signal again. I was not able to get all I hoped to but I did pretty well. I was able to finish adding the circles and bottom leaves (?) but did not get the last 2 birds on. Now I can start stitching those down. I was able to finish the yellow circles and glue baste them on. Now I am ready to stitch this block.   And I did finish the snowman block. The cutest. My daughters have seen me work on this and they all have put in their requests, 3 daughters and one quilt, what is a mother suppose to do. I ran out of time and I did not get the pattern drawn (?) for my Vintage Garden quilt. Maybe this weekend. Today our stitch group meets so I'll get busy on what I have prepared. Fingers crossed, that this goes out to y'all. Till next time Kat =^.
