Egg Recipe # 25 Sponge Cake

Sponge Cake  Original Recipe Yield 1 - 9 inch tube cake Ingredients 6 eggs 1 cup white sugar 1/4 cup water 1 teaspoon lemon extract-I omitted this and the zest and replaced it with 1 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 teaspoon lemon zest 1 cup cake flour 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 1/4 teaspoon salt Directions; Separate the eggs. In a large mixing bowl, beat egg yolks until very thick and lemon colored. Beat in sugar gradually. Add water, lemon extract and lemon rind. Beat in flour. In another bowl, beat egg whites until frothy. Then add cream of tartar and salt. Beat mixture until whites are stiff, but not until they are dry. Fold this whipped mixture into yolk mixture. Pour batter into an ungreased 9 inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for one hour, or until done. Till next time Kat =^..^=

Egg Recipe #24

I have been wanting to make this cake but just haven't had the time lately, plus I am also on a restricted diet. My triglycerides are too high and I have to limit my sweets and fat intake. You know how hard that is when you have a sweet tooth like I do. I'm doing good, so this recipe I will just pass along this time. If you make it I would like to know what you thought of it.  I am so far behind on posting egg recipes that I'm going to have to double up. Cake of Egg Whites When you have a recipe that uses only the egg yellows, this is a great quick cake to make with the whites that you are left with. Photo from:"Kolac Od Belanaca/Egg White Cake." What's up Monday

It's been a couple of weeks since I have posted my list and what I am working on. If I would only stay home some, I would get more done and as I write this, I'm off to Tulsa again later on today. We bought a new  mattress  and after almost a week of sleeping on it "the man of the place" find it a little too soft for his liking, so I'm off again to find a replacement. What I have been working on is a Christmas stocking for one of the boys. My daughter loves snowmen and to go along with that I'm making each of the boys a stocking  that will have a snowman on it. This is the first one.  I love working on this, not hard just a lot of time involved. But it will be something they could have all their life. I have to purchase another one of the other little dude. I haven't decided who is getting this one yet. Then there is my to do list. I do not have time right now to go over my last list I posted but I believe I was able to get most of it comple

Some Progress Cleaning

Well I don't know how much you pay attention to what I write or keep track of things I say I'll do but I try to be honest and follow through with what I write down. Ask my family they'll tell you I'm always writing down on my Thing To Do list on my clip board. I'm lost without it. So one of those tasks that I said I was going to do   a while back   was to clean out the freezers. You see I have 2, one large frost-free upright and one smaller upright that is not frost-free. As you can see it really needed to be defrosted. In fact  those items in the freezer had been frosted over so bad, they were embedded in the frost and I could not get them out. That is bad, and I am ashamed that I let it get away from me. So when I started cleaning it out I found many bags of tomatoes that I had prepared with the intention of canning later. Well it's later, lot later. So I gather all the bags that were still good,  did lose a couple to frost but to the m

Gone MFB

I have been gone, M issing F rom B logging, for a week now and boy what a week.  I live about 55 miles east of Tulsa and in the pass week I have been to Tulsa 4 out of the past 7 days and on Saturday  "the man of the place " and I went on a day long road trip. Like I hadn't had enough traveling lately. So needless to say the two days I was home I was so busy trying to keep up on all the chores and cleaning around here, I didn't have time to blog. And that consists of more work because we are in a drought again this summer, but at least its not as bad as last year so far. But it means a lot more watering of the animals and plants, and "the girls" are bearing through it but it is rough on them. The biggest challenge is helping them stay cool. I do not have a misting system like some so I just make sure they have plenty of fresh cool water and a cool treat sometime in the afternoon. She is so hot everything is droopy on her. Then on top of th

A Tuesday Treasure

Over at  The House on the Side of the Hill  she has a linky party where you share a treasure and mine I'm sharing is one of my egg cup holder. It is right now, one of my favorites.  This is a vintage 6 egg cup holder I call My Monks, these are Weiss Pottery Monks, so it can easily chip. I have not had them appraised so I going to give a guess on age but I was told at the time I bought them they were from 1930's.  I think they are just so happy and they put a smile on my face every time I look at them. Love them. So this is my treasure. Till Next Time Kat =^..^=
