No-Sew Fleece Scarf

I had meant to post this a couple of days ago but as things happened I forgot my power cord to my laptop at 30's Club Tuesday so I had to go back to Sager Creek Quilt Shop yesterday and pick up my cord. And I just can't go that far without making it worth my gas to not go ahead and go to the store and pick up whatever I might need for next week. With that said I did not get back until late in the afternoon and I hate to say it but I was tired and just could not get myself to write.  Here is the No-Sew Fleece Scarf I promised. I had made some quick pictures and they are not the best ( that should change here in the near future but that's for later ) and I gave the scarfs to my daughter when I was there. It is very easy and there is no reason that this can not be a gift that a child could make. You will need around a 1 1/3 yds of fleece. And the pattern you can download the pattern here    You can make them a solid or out of one fabric.  Or you can u

Pretty Gift Packages from Egg Cartons

I just love Pinterest, you can find some really neat ideas. Like this one from Better Homes and Garden It is gift wrapping your cookies in an egg carton with cellophane or decorative plastic cookie bags. (that's my 2 cents worth) So what you need is paper egg cartons, not those styrofoam ones, also I used mini baking cups, cookie bags that I found at the dollar store, for what else, a dollar and some Christmas trim to the tie the ends. But you can use ribbon. What I did is cut my egg carton into 3 parts, have 4 spaces for cookies but you can cut one in half for 6 cookies. Your choice. I lined mine with baking cups.      Pop the cookies in  and now they are ready to wrap. If you have small  delicate cookies like these, the cartons are a great way to protect the cookies from becoming broken. Soooo    Pretty

Egg Recipe #34 Peppermint Meringues

I made these for our 30's club that meets tomorrow. We are having a cookie exchange and I thought these were more of a Christmas cookie than the orange meringues.  I going to pack them in egg cartons.  I'll have it in the next post here in a while. Peppermint Meringues Prep Time: 20 Minutes Cook Time: 1 Hour 30 Minutes Ready In: 5 Hours Servings: 48 INGREDIENTS: 2 egg whites 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar A few drops of peppermint extract 1/2 cup white sugar 2 peppermint candy canes, crushed DIRECTIONS: 1. Preheat oven to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C). Line 2 cookie sheets with foil. 2. In a large glass or metal mixing bowl, beat egg whites, salt, and cream of tartar to soft peaks. Sprinkle crushed peppermint candy over the cookies. 3. Bake for 1

What's up today

I am so behind I feel like it not what's up but what's upside down, me. I keep telling myself that I will get it all done, no worries. And really it's true, we put on our self more than we need to so if I wanted  I could just say no, I have gotten better at it too. This time of year it seems like it all just piles up, no matter how well we  plan. But I can say I did accomplish some of the projects I have.  I did get the "little dudes" stockings done yesterday    and they are now on there way to California. The poor little ones have come down with their first cold. Thank goodness their mom is a nurse and Grandma needn't worry. I've been working on Bonnie Hunter's mystery  "Easy Street"  and so far I have been able to keep up This is clue 3.  I had changed my colorway and so far I'm liking what I see. I am using Deb Tucker's trimmers when making my units instead of the easy angler like she does. The m

Yarn Along

It is Wednesday which means that Ginny  at Small Things is having a link up for lovers of books and things made by knitting or crocheting. I do not get a chance to post every week but I try as much as I can to go there each week to see what others are reading and making. I have come across new  books to read and new projects to make or put on my " things to do in the future list "  (me and my lists) So the book I am listening to now is a true story that takes place during the Great Depression here in the States. From Amazon a Book Description Release Date:  October 25, 2011 "A wonderful reminder that economic hardship can bring suffering but can also foster compassion and community." - The Boston Globe In hard economic times like these, readers will find bestselling author Ted Gup's unique book uplifting as well as captivating. Inside a suitcase kept in his mother's attic, Gup discovered letters written to his grandfather in respon

Egg Recipe # 33 and Update

I have not been meeting my goal I started back in the beginning of the year. I thought I would post an egg recipe a week and end up with 52 recipes. Well I learn a few things from this, first thing a new recipe a week for me was too much. You see I did not want to post a recipe I hadn't tried  But there have been times this year I have not been home to cook or I just didn't get around to it. Second was there are some I wanted to eat again or would and than just did not feel like another egg dish.  So I have decided that there a few recipes I have still that I want to share, so I'm going to break one of my rule, I'm going to post recipes that I haven't tried yet but plan to. Also I realize I will not meet my goal of 52 but I can live with that. So with that said, this is one I have been wanting to make since May but had no occasion to make them.     Martha Stewart's Meringue Swirls Martha Stewart Living, May 2012 Prep Time  20 minutes

On Easy Street

I had been working on getting caught up since I started late, but I did made a dent in it. So far I'm liking my color choices. One thing about a mystery is that your not sure if what you pick out will work but seeing how I'm going scraping I have a better chance Last weeks clue was to make 192 - 4 patches (I have a 1/3 done) This weeks clue is to make 128  flying geese ( again about 1/3 done) And if you had time or just wanted to like me, you could get a head start on next week by cutting 64 rectangles from the background fabric - done (that was a no brainier for me) So what I did for what Bonnie had chosen as the colors I changed. For lime green I changed out to Cheddar. Now out of all the changes this is the one I am curious about. You can have too much of a bright/contrasting color that your eye could focus only on those colors, so will see. Then for the Turquoise I just went with another shade of blue, mainly Cadet blue. Then for the purple I went with a M
