Bad Cows Revisited

I wanted to share another past post and one of my favorite memories. I wrote this December 2011 and makes me laugh thinking back to when this happened.  hope you get a giggle too. Bad Cows The " man of the place" decided that since our pasture are being grazed down and he is trying to stretch as much out of them as he can before we have to start putting out hay. He figure that for one last time  he was going to let them graze our house yard. Now this is not the first time and I had put up with his idea of   mowing . (past post)   That time it was just a few of the older cows, they are slow and not so curious. But this time it was the first time mothers (2yrs old) Like last time I can put up with the spots of natural fertilizer, that goes away with rain and snow. I will barely tolerate them pruning my monkey grass. It was looking good and would of all winter, but I tell myself it will grow back. Then there is that phrase "they

Lovely Slow Sunday

This is the first time in over a month that I've been able to slow down and do some needle work on a Sunday. And I'm enjoying every minute of it.  Today I am working on the last block to be appliquéd for the quilt "Words To Live By".  I have completed appliqueing the corners and the surrounding blocks.  Seeing how this a large block and there are lots of pieces to be attached,  I'm doing it in quarters, so it's easier for me to handle and make sure my pieces don't come off of the background. It feels so good to be appliquéing, and it's been a while since I've taken time to do some.  Seeing how this is the last block to be appliquéd I really need to start thinking and getting serious about making all the half square triangles that will be in this quilt. I would love for this to be completed and quilted by the end of the year. I believe I can do it. Linking up with k

Oh The Humidity

I told myself this year while going to the boys in California during the month of May, I wasn't going to do much as far as a vegetable garden this year. That's because I would plant and weed like crazy before I left and then when I came home it would just be a jungle out there. I have gotten tired of coming home right when the humidity would kick in and try to work out in it. I'm not getting any younger and the humidity, it's not letting up either. But I cannot handle a jungle in my veggie patch. Literally it drives me nuts. So that's what I've been doing in the morning, every morning since I've been back. I will go out to the veggie patch and work until I can't handle it anymore. After being in California with no humidity, I come back a wuss every time. It takes me at least a week to acclimate back. Yesterday was the best day I've had so far this week, I lasted till 10:30. But not today I barely made an hour. With the humidity bein

Flash From The Past

The first of this month was the 5 years anniversary of my blog. I had no idea that I would still be writing and sharing my life five years later, besides the fact that I still get great enjoyment doing it. I'm still trying to figure out a way to share the celebration with you. I have figure out a good thank you. I was thinking today and thought about going back into the archives and re-post some of my favorite posts. I realize this should of been done this last month, especially since I wasn't writing about anything,  plus it would of been a prelude to the anniversary date. Oh, well A day late, A dollar short as the saying go. Hope you enjoy,  The first post was very short and funny to think I was so excited that I had another person viewed it. To this date it has 12 views. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 Oh so cute This weekend we work the cows but not the calves. Here are a few of the calves separated from their moms, patiently waiting until the mom

Books and Yarn Gadgets

I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and comments, I'm feeling a lot better, almost my old self.  Wish I could say that I'd finished the cat cocoon while in California but fortunately am very close to the end. Towards the end of my visit it seemed as though I would either be very busy or very tired to knit. But it looks as though I'll have it done shortly and will get it felted, take a picture and mail it off to my daughter. Now for my new gadgets, I broke down and finally purchased a swift and a ball winder.  I have been wanting these for ages  but could not see myself getting one until I started the Loops club. In the past I would get the shop to wind my yarn from a hank  into a ball. But recently it seems like I've been coming home with hanks. I wound one up before I left and it was not a pretty sight. I did it before and use the back of a chair to hold my yarn and it works but not easily. So with my mighty iP

My Trip, Short Story

I'm feeling better and finding myself with more energy. Didn't have a chance to write much while visiting my daughter and share the adventure I had getting to California. Just want to say right now is that my parents and I are home safe and a little worn out but good. Did worry about my parents seeing how they are in their 80's and this was quite a big change for them. They haven't taken their 35 ft fifth wheel out to California in 6 yrs now. I changed my arrangements so I could travel along with them and I'm glad I did. Last month I met them at their house on Friday the 6th and headed out around 8:30 in the morning. Wanted to avoid traffic going through Tulsa. By the time we passed through Oklahoma City the wind started blowing steady and picking speed. Dad was getting tired of fighting the wind and we spent the night in Amarillo, Texas.  Spent the night in an R.V. Park near the Cadillac Ranch The next day was a windy one too, so we didn't mak

What's Up 06.06.12

I'm home now after being gone a month, and it feels so good to be back. I took yesterday to just relax, unpack and take enjoyment of being home with my husband. But today I'm taking stock of what it is I need to start thinking about and how to go about getting things done. There's some things that need to be taken care of sooner than others like the garden and the animals. But my mind is also in a creative mode and wants to do some sewing. But before I can do anything like that I need to straighten up my sewing room.  When I left, I left it as thou a tornado had gone through it After I get it straightened up the first projects I need to work on our the Farmer Wife blocks for the future 30's club. Not sure if any of that will happen today but at least I'll get a start on working on them this week I am very happy to be home but also bummed out. Two days before I arrived, I came down with some sort of bug/cold. Jus
