Spring Cleaning the Chicken Yard

This morning I finally cleaned out the chicken yard, I try to do this twice a year. It is amazing how much limb, twigs and bark will fall off the persimmon tree that is near. Went to work raking up all the debris into piles and ended up with 2 wheel barrows full . another of limbs, twigs and bark which went to the fire pit. Straw and rocks is what most of the debris was and what I did was to put it out in part of the pasture that the "man of the place" drives through. Just dumped it out and didn't bother to spread it cause The girls will do it for me. The funny thing is that stuff has been in their yard for months now and they hadn't worked this hard scratching through it. Guess it just look good now. Here is the yard now, debris free, for a while.  It is spring and we always get storms but looks good for now. And to celebrate gave the girls a little scratch. Now let me tell you after a few hours

Whimsical Weaving

The loom has some fun yarns on it right now because I had finished two projects since I lasted talked about what I was on working.. Did get the black and orange checkered scarf completed, which I made for my middle daughter and had already mailed it off to her. Baseball season has started here in the U.S. and seeing how she is a  San Francisco Giant fan and at the games in the  San Francisco is can be cool and breezy. She can use it now Then I made another scarf. Again yarn from my stash was used. Just 2 skeins used, light gray and variegated black/gray. So soft and love the look of this one. So after doing this one I was wanting to start another one. Had been pondering using  novelty yarn and ribbons. It has been fun seeing how it turning out. It is also soft, not at all stiff or scratchy, thank goodness. Used 8 different yarns in the warp and only 1 yarn for weft. I'm already thinking about the next

What's Up 4.10.17

It is such a pretty spring day and I have been busy outside, so I haven't yet got to what's up on the design wall. I have about half of the main body of this top completed and two rows left. And the border to add. Then there is the Jen Kingwell pattern Gardenvale on the cutting table. I did also finish the binding I had started a couple weeks ago. As you can see Pete (or just his tail)is enjoying this quilt. Cats sure like quilts. Now they are ready to find a home. Linking up with  love laugh quilt ems scrapbag patchwork times

April's Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today Looking out my window I'm seeing how green the pastures are getting. The cows and their babies are just loving the green grass. I am thinking  about the veggie garden and whether or not I will plant as much as I have in the past. With the grandsons birthday in May and going out to California to spend time with them, it makes it a real big chore to maintain when I get back. Last year I did very little and the garden became a weed patch. And sure do not want that again.  I am thankful for so much and do my best to give thanks daily. I try to take time and become aware of the little things around me. Give thanks to all big and small.  One of my favorite things is to take a nap. Would like to say I do this daily but it's not possible. But when I can I do and cherish those times. I need recharging during the day. I am creating all of the time whether it's sewing on a quilt to working with yarn, I always have something to work on. I

What's Up 4.3.17

Well here it is Monday and the  first part of April. And today I'm not just going to show what I am working on but also this month's OMG. So the WIP I picked is Retro Air-Ship Propeller quilt. Started this back in Sept last year and Karen and I said we would do a couple blocks a month until we had enough to make a top. Well the pressure is on to finish because Karen has finished her a few days ago.  Depending on how I set the blocks or how large I'l make it, will be the deciding factor on how many blocks I'll need. Right now I have 16, I could make as few as 4 or up to 25. Haven't decided yet. Now for what is going to up on the wall today is this month's Stash Buster. The pattern is a Timeless Treasures freebie called Arrow. Seeing how my goal is to use as much as I can of my stash.... this is to be  all stash,  BLUE STASH.  Which is what I do have... a large amount of blue fabric. I j
