Have a new video ready

Finally I have another video made.

This time I'm sharing some FO's, Wip's and future plans.

I was able to get one of moms quilts finished. She was getting pretty weak and was hard to focus so I needed do some redoing on this top which took me a little time. Plus I just didn't have my heart into it. But I do need to get them done.

Have 2 left to do and would like to get them finished before Christmas so the girls could have them as gifts from her.

Then I did get a top made for me that was originally for my daughter. Do have another one cut out but debating whether I want to finish it. There are other patterns I have cut out and ready to sew and would rather spend my time on them.

Crabapple Hill pattern for the Halloween Journey

Plans for this month

This one I would love to get to but the other two I will be working on

Here is a close up of the pattern for the table runner.
I’m trying my best to get more of the WIP’s I have.  Amazing how many seeing how I haven’t been doing much sewing. Like the top some have been started years ago.

For those who use blogger for your blog. What do you think of the new format?
It reminds me of the conversation about what Ravelry has done with their site. Seems like a lot of users are not happy with it. It’s okay but we do get use to the same old way and it can be a learning curve.  Heaven knows that I don’t need anymore right now to try learning. So I reverted back to the old style for now on both.

Couple weeks ago we had the hay fields bales and I was able to help “the man of the place” move the bales. Took videos and I want to put together a video of our days of moving the hay. The days were sunny, humid and hot but was still very pretty and so quiet out in the fields.

Hope all is well with you all and please stay safe and healthy. Is it not good here in the states and like so many Oklahoma infections are on the increase. So I continue to stay at home.

Till next time

  1. maybe for now you just have to keep working on what gives you joy and when you feel you can do the projets your not totally in love with you can go back to them then......
time are very difficult in the world.....yes best to stay home especially if covid19 numbers are increasing.......
not sure about the new interface.....certainly easier for me to blog from my phone but other parts are not so good.....jury is still out here......
thanks for popping in I could not reply to your comment....as for zoom maybe you can join us next time....considering another one maybe this weekend.....its going to rain and I will be stuck inside - no one will be able to come and visit with the forecast rain so maybe I can sew with everyone again.....

  2. Hello Kathleen, I am so glad Chooky posted your blog on hers so I could find you! I was super impressed with you in the zoom group and was looking forward to finding you here!

It is pretty precious that your mom was making those quilts for her grand daughters and that you are able to finish them for her. It sounds like you have some more to go.

I enjoyed your wonderful video. I loved your bike ride and the beautiful scenery and chicken! I have thought about doing a channel myself but threw the idea out because it is too much while working full time. Back to school this coming week!

I don't think you can change a video's orientation from portrait to landscape. I taught a broadcasting class to my students, and the first thing they want to do is video in portrait. It doesn't take them long to figure out that landscape just looks better.

I enjoyed my visit here! Have a great week!

  3. Love your projects and thank you again for your 1/4” hexie challenge. I have 3 flowers completed. If you have a moment check them on my blog.
I am also working with All Hallows’ Eve, I love it!
I think it’s beautiful that you are completing your Moms quilts for your girls. They are sure to treasure them.
Take care, stay safe and stay healthy. See you on the next zoom.

Welcome friends to share a thought, I enjoy reading them and will try my best to reply back by email most of the time. But if you do not hear back it's because you are a no-reply blogger.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section          The joints you'll need will be 2 - 3/4" elbows 2 - 3/4" T's 2 - 3/4" to 1" T (this will be the base of the Feet) 4 - 1" elbow Also need pipe cutters (this cost me almost as much

Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl cott

What's Up

Well that is a big question, what's up Seeing how I haven't posted since before the retreat I went to. So I will show what I did at the retreat and what I have been doing these past few days, which is this Log Cabin Christmas Tree  wall hanging I have the blocks completed and now it just a matter of getting them sewn together. I'll get to that tomorrow. While at the retreat I made this baby quilt top with the disappearing 4-patch block. I had a charm pack and used some "snow" fabric Kaufman snow is one of my favorite whites to use. It's white but not a stark, bright white, goes well with a majority of the fabric I've collected. I started late making my blocks for RCS14 First I wasn't sure what pattern I wanted to make and then with all that was going on the first part of the year, I didn't start until July. One quilt is using a quarter log cabin in solid colors. I made these at the retreat, have the other half t
