Some WIP's

Hey there everyone, I hope you all are doing okay with everything that is going on in the world. I understand from the news that pretty much all of us are in a lock down of one form or another. Don't know about you but it has been a challenge for me. I can be very happy being home bound, it's just that I was watching too much news and was freaking out a little. So I'm not watching all the time now and my anxiety is better.  Don't know if any of you are experiencing any thing like that too. Also for a while I couldn't seem to be focused, more than normal  But  I'm adjusting and relaxing a little and feel like writing about some of what I've been up to these past few weeks Well I started on new socks and this time I decided to do a plain vanilla pattern Did a twisted rib cuff in a contrasting color with a German short row garter stitched heel. First time for doing this style heel and I liked it. Says that it will wear longer So far I

Loving this weather

I wish the weather would stay like this all year long, I don't believe I would get bored at all. Yesterday I did take the pictures of my handy work outside. What I had potted up.  Last Friday while helping with Master Gardener's I was at a event for Arbor Day that the Cherokee Nation had put on and some of the booths were giving out native trees. So I picked out ones we do not have here on our place.    Picked out some Shortleaf Pines and  Chinkapin Oaks , they are the ones in the coffee containers, needed some larger than the other pots that the pines are in. I'll plant them in the fall. Also plan on redoing some of the beds around the house, they have become over come with weeds and another type of weed that I can not pull or dig out so I'm going to have to resort to spraying. Either my herbicide is old or they are just a tough plant to kill. I do see some yellowing but I'll spray again. In one spot along the side of the house I'm going to p

It's Monday 6.12.17

I meant to write all weekend but here it is Monday. Weekends sometimes just are not long enough. Was able to get a little more done on the No Brainer quilt. I named it that because it was suppose to be a mindless, just stitch squares together and call it good but my mind couldn't just rest. It evolve to this now. Of course it is taking a little long to assemble. I found this golden beige in my stash, tone wise goes well but in a way boring. It will be a good gift quilt because of it's safe color palette. Spent some of the weekend potted up the herbs. Almost done with potting plants and cleaning up the porches. Would of gotten more done but I just had to take time out and sit and enjoy the day. I spent an evening working on the Hexagon Diamonds  The 3/4" shapes came in the mail and I was excited to get back to it. And spent last night crocheting. I'm now adding the blue. It was the only dark blue available of that line

Week 2 & 3 on porch veggies

I meant to give an update last week but for some reason I can't stop writing about other stuff and kept putting off my update for week two.  Have had tremendous success so far with my container garden on the back porch. I reseeded the lettuce and as you can see it's coming up and we now have a full pot baby lettuce. Need to start thinning out the first seedlings, not going to throw them away thou, I'm going to rinse them off and put them in my salad, it's having micro greens. It's time to start also another batch of radishes. I seem to have a hard time with radishes. They come up but sometimes a portion of them do not bulb up. Need to look that up and find out why. The eggplants has flowered and now can see what looks like developing eggplant.  The parsley it's coming up but see no signs of the chives germinating. The tomatoes are getting big and blooming. Really surprised how well these volunteered tomatoes

First Week for Porch Patch

It's been a week now since I started the veggies on the back porch in pots or containers. (this was Saturday)  Had some success with the lettuce well let's say half the lettuce. I planted one side in seeds that I knew were pretty fresh and the other side with seeds I have had for many years. The  empty space, that were the oldest did not germinate That's OK I'll just reseeded. Which I had already.  The basil and the radishes all came up and are looking good.  If I can keep out the critter that keeps coming on the porch and digging in my pots.  I had purchased some spray animal repellent that I'm going to try tonight. I'm going to spray the pots and see if that helps.  It's OK It fell asleep while waiting for it's new home I have already put out a live trap and caught one raccoon which I relocated already. And I will put the live trap out again just in case it is a raccoon and not a possum.
