Time Flys.

Amazing how quickly time flies by these days. Been 2 weeks already since I last wrote, and I have so much to tell you about.  When I last spoke to you, I spent that following week helping my youngest daughter move to a new home in the town she lives in. I was very surprised that after 4 days of packing, moving, and unpacking, I felt great. I figured I would be sore and worthless for the next week, but that wasn’t the case; just tired. Thank goodness because while at her place, I got the call that the contractor could start on the job of remodeling my kitchen. This is something I have been wanting for ages.  So Monday, they started working on the kitchen.  These are pictures before they started.  My kitchen was originally built in 1982. It’s dark, not as functional as I need it to be as I’ve gotten older. I want a lighter and more functional kitchen, that is the vision I have planned.  As of ...

Blogtober it’s the 17th

I didn’t have a chance to post earlier because I have been visiting with my youngest daughters at her place this weekend. I left Friday and had a great time with her.  We went to the farmers market there in Stillwater  Not a very big market but the vendors there were very nice. Had a good variety of veggies and fruits. Couple of bakery’s and fresh meat.  We then went and had breakfast, afterward we went to the library for a book sale.  I found a couple books for myself and quite a few on the Civil War for “the man of the place” He is a big history buff on the Civil War.  While in Stillwater had to go to the OSU Gardens.  Been a couple years since I’ve been to the gardens. They have done a lot of changes and all so beautiful. I just love going there. I get so inspired each time. they film a weekly garden show there on PBS but you can see them also on YouTube. Oklahoma Gardening is what to look for.  Here are just a few pictures  There was also yard...

Happy Dance

After 22 years, my Long and Rocky Road is completely quilted Last night I put the last stitch in. Started yesterday morning quilting on the last side of the border I had started this quilt back in 1996,  wow in the last century..... It's been a love hate relationship. I love the look and the fabric used because it is from items I made for my girls and myself. A lot of memories. But I hated the fact that it has taken so long to finish. I would work on it and for longer periods of time put it away. That is why I'll call it my Long and Rocky Road   Today it's time to attach the binding and once that is done I'll wash it. Heaven knows after all these years of toting around how dirty it is. YUCK Now I need to see which quilts are waiting to be quilted. I haven't taken time to think about what next seeing how this one was so time consuming. Wish I had kept track of the time spent making this quilt. Bet there are over a 100...

Loving this weather

I wish the weather would stay like this all year long, I don't believe I would get bored at all. Yesterday I did take the pictures of my handy work outside. What I had potted up.  Last Friday while helping with Master Gardener's I was at a event for Arbor Day that the Cherokee Nation had put on and some of the booths were giving out native trees. So I picked out ones we do not have here on our place.    Picked out some Shortleaf Pines and  Chinkapin Oaks , they are the ones in the coffee containers, needed some larger than the other pots that the pines are in. I'll plant them in the fall. Also plan on redoing some of the beds around the house, they have become over come with weeds and another type of weed that I can not pull or dig out so I'm going to have to resort to spraying. Either my herbicide is old or they are just a tough plant to kill. I do see some yellowing but I'll spray again. In one spot along the side of the house I'm going...
