2018 Reflection

Boy another year just quickly flew by, especially the last half of this year. Seeing how I hadn't written in two months I have been reflecting on how this year went and what I would like to see in 2019. I have come to realize that turning 60 this year really effected my  mental state.  Never though it would. Thinking about what I wanted in this stage of my life was overwhelming. Actually for the last part of this year I became melancholy. But with time and lots of contemplation, I have work my way through it. My focus has changed some and at one time I wasn't even sure if I wanted to continue blogging as shown with my lack of posting. But I realized after seven years I still do enjoy blogging and have ideas on where I want to go with my blog. I want to go back to more what it was when I started. A reflection of my whole life not just mainly quilting. I'm not stopping, just want to add more variety. Decided not to try to do everything, need to be selectiv...

Coming Home

I have been in California visiting my two daughters and the those cute little grandsons. In just 3 months they have changed so much, they smile, watch you, started cooing and just melting their grandma's heart.  So adorable. Can't wait for my next visit. I did get to help my oldest daughter get her new apartment in order and rode Bart to San Francisco. While there I played tourist, you would think that since I was born and lived in Sacramento area that I had been on a cable car but I hadn't. So that is what we did, rode one to Fisherman's Wharf.  So much fun. "The man of the place" has been caring for the chickens. And thank goodness we have had rain while I have been gone, if not I afraid my garden would be dead. I am anxious about what I'll find. This was unplanned visit so I did not start putting in my fall crop. I figured I would do that a couple of weeks ago. Glad I waited. I'll have to see a...

We Know Now

My daughter found out yesterday what she is going to have, and it's not one of each Boy/Girl but BOY! OH BOY! Bless her heart she is going to have two little guys and boy will she have her hands full. One thing about about most boys, they look after their Moms. I think it's that protector mode they have. I can't wait, I had 3 girls myself so this will be all new for me too. Now I'm on the look out for boy related things to make. Any ideas, I would love to hear them.

Pumpkin Pie in a Mason Jar

Today at church I had a thought come to me and unfortunately it wasn't  how to bring peace to the world.  We have singles who do not have family, are away from their family or have no plans for Thanksgiving, so I thought what about giving them a pie, pumpkin pie seeing how it's the pie of choice. But I was thinking a regular pie is just too much for one person. Then came the light bulb moment, why can't I make a pumpkin pie in a jar like I did with the cherry pie. That's what I did this afternoon, baked pies  I maded them basically the same way I did the other pies. I did buy pre-made pie crust dough and a can (15oz) of pumpkin and just made up the filling like do any other time I make this pie. I'm adding a little more info:  The jars I used are half-pint, wide-mouth Ball canning jars. That way you know they can take the heat of the oven. And if you do not have a pumpkin pie recipe, the one on the label of Libby canned pumpkin i...

I love gifts

Yesterday when I went to the Post Office I had a package from Australia there in my box.. You see a couple of months ago I signed up for my first time, a swap. It was Sandy's Cookie and Creams Scissor Keeper Swap and my partner was Deb  at Frog Cottage Designs.  I was so happy and excited to see what she had made. I just love it and it's going in my sewing basket I keep next to my chair in the living room. A big THANK YOU Deb........... I will always remember this. I wish I would of taken a picture of the one I sent her. Wasn't thinking ahead.  IT MIGHT BE ALL THIS SHAKING GOING ON HERE WITH EARTHQUAKES. I have felt more here in Oklahoma lately than I had the 36 years I lived in California. What's up with that!!!! Rattle and Roll =^..^=

2011 Giving Thanks Challenge

It is already the 3rd day but I want to go ahead and start because I believe it doesn't matter when, we should be aware of all that is around us and be so thankful/grateful for it all. Good and bad. I am going to write my thanks on the side to read just like I do in my journal, and change it each day. That way I can keep posting and give proper attention to being grateful. If this is something you do or have thought about, why not start.  Whether you have a blog or not (just write it down). It will change how you look at life and how much happier you'll be as time goes on as you do this. I'm an example of that. I feel very blessed because of it. This will go perfect with tie one on day  that I wrote about. So if you would like to read more go here . Till next time Kat =^..^=

Giving Thanks - Thanksgiving

Well tomorrow is November and that means Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Thanksgiving is a time to remember all we are thankful for. But it can also be a time of giving back to someone else, that is what Tie One On Day is all about. From EllynAnne Geisel website; " Women clad in aprons have traditionally prepared the Thanksgiving meal, and it is within our historical linkage to share our bounty." EllynAnne Geisel Four years ago, I noticed that Thanksgiving was talked about in terms more commonly associated with stress, than joy. I remembered my mother’s absolute love of Thanksgiving, as a day more than anything else of sharing and gratefulness. So I created National Tie One On Day™ as an annual opportunity to return the "give" to Thanksgiving by sharing our good fortune with someone in need of a kind gesture National Tie One On Day™ has nothing to do with purchasing anything special or even driving! Participation is simple. On the day befo...
