What's Up 3-18-2020 Sewing -KAL-Socks and baking bread

It's been a while since I had something to show that's up on the design wall. Up on the wall is one of three tops. When my stepmother passed away she had been trying to make a quilt for each of her granddaughters. She has 5 granddaughters and was able to complete 2 quilts  and was working on the other 3. I had cut out all the squares she needed because she was unable to.  So I collected all the squares, partial blocks and completed blocks to go ahead and put them altogether I had to frog some of the pairs due to the seams allowance was not correct. Mom was never a precise seamstress and as she got further along with the cancer her precision worsen but she would not let that bring her down and she kept going. That was comforting for us to see her do what she loved up to close to the end of her life. I will get these done for her like I promised. I hate to admit it but I started a KAL along with the knitting a pair of socks each month

I had meant to get this posted last night but unfortunately we had a bout of severe  weather, in fact a tornado touched down a couple miles from us. Really do not like these storms at night. Can't see it coming. We're good just some downed limbs and trees. Of course the water gaps are gone and needing repair (again). Now it's on to more calming stuff. What I'll start with is this week "one thing with Amy"  I had woven this a couple months ago and the plan was this was going to be a wrap. But when I was direct warping I came up short on yarn for the width I wanted. I still went ahead and made this. So plan B is to use this fabric to cover these pillows.  Then I wanted show what's up on the design wall. On the right is what I started last year for my middle daughter. She asked if I would make quilts for her camper. She has two beds. Such a cute pattern and so far I have only 2 tree blocks done, no w

What's Up 2.26.19

What's up on my design wall today  I have actually a variety of projects that I am currently working on.   I have My Tree wall hanging up, deciding what is needed to finish next.  I'm working on the embroidery part, details on the birds and the flowers right now.  After I'm done with that then next will be the quilting. This will be hand quilted which I am looking forward to because right now I do not have anything in my hoop that I'm working on.  The other items on the wall is a crocheted Afghan that I started earlier this month. I must have a thing for doing crochet projects that you have to attach to another part to completed the pattern. This one will be circles, which will be attached to each other and then a small triangular piece will be then attached to fill in the space.  Have 6 of which I need 18 blocks completed. It will be all blue and white. Seeing how I had a basket full of blue scrap yarn to work with. This is one of

Up on the wall today I have still the boho ornament afghan with just the 2 rows completed that I shown last night. That's because I haven't worked on it today I plan on it while watching TV tonight. Maybe I can get at least a couple more rows done.  That's my hope.   I was able to do some sewing.  I did a few more blocks of the blue scrappy.  Speaking of scrappy, which I'm also little late, but did get made was my first RSC 19 block.  This month color is red and I'm working from a box of scraps. Pure scrappy!  This is the first one I've come up with I'll show more of the pattern and share my thoughts later on . Saturday I had started some seed for sprouts and this is how much they sprouted in 2 days. Now the sandwich blend was packed in 2015 so we'll see how much germination happens. doesn't look that much right now.  Sandwich Blend Mung Beans Also Saturday our temperatures got

What's Up 10/29/18

Again October has gone so quickly, my favorite month. I wish it would last, oh say 6 months..... heaven. The 2nd week was our anniversary and we took time away to celebrate, then last week was all of Mom follow up doctor visits (which she is doing good). This week has been a little bit of a breather with catching up on cleaning and projects. One is the Scrappy Nine Patch that came back from the quilter. Now it's time for binding   You can see from this photo that it was done in the Methodist Fan Time to get out the big rulers and trim Next just getting the binding sewn on,  think I'll use the background fabric. Up on the design wall is a current project that our sewing group started at our last meeting The pattern is Windmills from Cultural Fusion Quilts book I'm doing mine as you can see all in blue fabric. I have a love for blue and have tubs of blue and really needed to get to using and not just collect.
