Mid Week Progress

Just a quick update on the WIP I'm working on The Blue windmill blocks I had cut out are finished  When I started this top last year I just cut out squares without counting them and it needs 9 more blocks to make a twin, so I found the fabric I used and now need to get some squares cut. Also have made some progress on the Wildrose Backpack This is the base/middle of the backpack Like I mentioned last time I'm using extra colors and so far it looks fine. Looking forward to see what it will look like when completed. The stitching on the project bag is done and now it's time to figure which fabric I like for the drawstring casing and maybe the lining. Had these 3 picked out and decided on this one. The base of the bag I decided it to be  crocheted. I'm using 2 mm macrame cord and so far I like the weight and hope it works out like I planned. Then the last is something I just started and it is warping fo

What's Up 5-27-19

I want to first off say I hope you had joined me today to remember those who served their country and gave their lives. We all own them so much, no matter what country we live. Other than that it has been a quiet day here. With all the severe weather we have had in Oklahoma, quiet is good. One thing about all the storms comes the humidity and makes it hard for all who have to work outside.  Stayed inside most of the day Been working on the Wildrose Backpack . Instead of going with just one color I decided to use additional ones Coming along   I had read this book a little while back and was intrigued by her work. Which led me to starting a stitch journal and trying my hand at Kantha stitching. So I started on a piece that consist of two old blocks I had. The blocks were incomplete and damaged. I'm almost done doing the stitching and the plan is to make a drawstring project bag when finished. I just love the textu

This weeks finishes

I'm so excited to say I had finished my first woven rug. Very pleased with how it turned out and the length is perfect for in front of the stove. Next is one to lay in front of the sink. Also finished "one thing with Amy" for this week It was to take this woven fabric and cover these two pillow I have in the car. The fabric I wove was not wide enough to a be wrap I was wanting so after some thought, decided to use some it. It was a lot easier than I thought. I was worried about the fabric unraveling.  But with a simple zig zag stitch, no problems. On the design wall I had these blocks that needed to be assembled    They are a very simple 4 patch block and was able to get these done and now I need to put together more to stitch. What I have done so far. My last finish is something so totally different. It is a Boho wrap bracelet  I had to purchase the leather cord and bead thread but the rest I had. A pe

What's up 5-21-19

I had meant to get this posted last night but unfortunately we had a bout of severe  weather, in fact a tornado touched down a couple miles from us. Really do not like these storms at night. Can't see it coming. We're good just some downed limbs and trees. Of course the water gaps are gone and needing repair (again). Now it's on to more calming stuff. What I'll start with is this week "one thing with Amy"  I had woven this a couple months ago and the plan was this was going to be a wrap. But when I was direct warping I came up short on yarn for the width I wanted. I still went ahead and made this. So plan B is to use this fabric to cover these pillows.  Then I wanted show what's up on the design wall. On the right is what I started last year for my middle daughter. She asked if I would make quilts for her camper. She has two beds. Such a cute pattern and so far I have only 2 tree blocks done, no w

Stitch Journal Day #19

I am a late joiner to the idea of a Stitch Journal and the process is what I like the most. The freedom of creativity is different from all the others. I find it meditative. Like today I was out on the back porch enjoying a cup of coffee when out in the pasture came a deer slowly moving through the high grass. We figure she must have a fawn near by because of the way she was acting, slow and cautious. What I never expected was to see the smallest fawn I've ever seen. For a brief time the fawn was in a spot of short grass and you could see that it barely came up to the mother's belly. Very awkward and unsteady at walking, so we knew it was born within the last 24 hrs. Just so precious. I was so in the moment never thought to take a picture. But that is what I put on my stitch journal, the fawn. Found floss that had the colors of the fawn, brown with light color for the spots        This is my representation of the fawn.
