Day 16

I did it again, missed a day on the  I have done better than I thought I would, especially since my blog has been neglected last month.  Well yesterday I tended to a few things around here and then I needed to finish next month BOM for the 30's club After it was done drove over to Siloam Springs to drop these off at the quilt shop. We visited for a while and I was given a pattern for the next stash buster. Stash Busters meet ever other month at the shop and I had to miss the meeting because I'm at the Master Gardening class on that day so Pam gave me the pattern. It is a free pattern by Windham Fabric called "All Wrapped Up" http://www.windhamfabrics.net/cgi-bin/fabricshop/projects.cgi?patternID=507 Cute pattern and I have a good stash of Christmas fabric and really would like to make this. Just not sure if I can make the time. There are a few items I want to make as gifts and they will need to come first. There is a gift I finished la...

Two in One

I had everything ready for yesterday post, I knew what I wanted to share and even took a couple of pictures but I was just too tired to hassle with it all. You see Mom had a TEE yesterday, which meant I needed to leave the house before 8 because her test was at 11:00 and figure I would be back sometime before 3:00. She did fine and they were able to do the test but they had such a problem with getting an IV in that it was 3:00 by the time she was done. That meant I had 5 hours of sitting around waiting.   I did put to good use and was able to finish the corner blocks for the Retro Air-Ship Propeller. Was so hoping I could get the border finished today but was to busy cleaning after being gone everyday this week, the house was a mess. Also crochet a couple more little hats and  work a little on my hexes. I do have quite a few done and need to get a picture made to show. And also found the fabric to use between the diamonds. I'll get that a...

Darn It Day 8

I was so busy yesterday away from the house that by the time I made it back, I was so tired to write anything. Spent the day at Mom and Dads then had a class that evening. I've been taking our county's  Master Gardener program since last month. It is a 10 week course, which we are about half way through. Last night was on Annuals and Perennials, so love ever moment. While at moms I had taken a couple of the corner blocks for the Retro Air-Ship Propeller to work on . Have one more left to prep and I'll be one step closer to the finish. This morning I was able to get an hour in quilting on Scandinavian Christmas and this is what was accomplished,    outlined the animals and a portion of this sections frame. This wall hanging has been a pleasure to work on for me. Yesterday I realized I needed to do more for my parents and making more meals for them is where I can step up. Found a couple of cookbooks to get me started. These here are...

Time Flys

A lot has happened these past few weeks. My mom has been in and out of the hospital again and then it's follow up visits with the specialists. She is doing good but CHF  (congestive heart failure)  is a day by day challenge. For some people it is hard to change their diet and other habits that are needed when you have CHF . My mom is one of those people and for that reason is why she is dealing with it now. Makes me think about my own stubborn habits and vow to myself to do better so I can prevent future health issues. My youngest daughter was also home for two weeks and I can say with confidence I have a new quilter in the family. She picked out the fabric (with help from Pete) and pattern, cut the pieces and almost completed sewing the top together. Looking great. Myself have done very little sewing again.  Was able to put half of the borders on the Retro Air-Ship Propeller. Which meant I did not make my goal for last m...

Feeling like Fall

This week has felt a lot like fall with the nice cool morning and days warm and breezy. Love this time of year, hard to stay inside but I have had to. My mom is still in the hospital and have been spending time visiting. I take along piecework with me. Took the Mosaic Diamond (aka Mom's Quilt ) this week and have 2 more completed which now brings the total up to 13. Just a start tho, heaven knows it will take a lot of these diamonds to make a bed size quilt. Decided that it will be the size from what the fabric I have make. Also this week I have been working on getting the hexagon circle appliqued down for the center of the Dreamy Hexagon. Have 5 of the circles done and just 2 left. Then it's on to the next step.     Been thinking about the Retro Air-Ship Propeller and knew I wanted to do something else. Thinking about a thin strip of black and then a print border. It just that I haven't decided which one to use and hope you will le...

A Finish and A Start

Oh it was such a splendid day.  Had the house to myself most of the day. My daughter went home, my sister went to my parents to help dad while mom is in the hospital and "The Man of The Place" was out doing his cow thing. So spent a good portion of my day in my happy place, aka sewing room. Have had the Retro Air-Ship Propeller blocks finished (so I thought) and ready to assemble.  Tried two layouts but didn't have enough to make it a full size top either way.  Had a decision to make, use what I made or make more.  I just didn't want to spend any more time on making more blocks.   This is what I thought of on point and used half blocks. Okay in my head I thought it would work and look nice but what I ended up is not quite what I pictured. It will make a nice lap or wall hanging... the size right now is  54"  sq. I want to say it's complete but I'm just not sure. Something is bugging me abou...
