Feels So Good

It sure feels so good to have a finished project. Well semi finished I have the top done at least.  I finished constructing the Metro Twist this morning but not after having a few hiccups along the way.  When in the process of putting the units together made a mistake as you can tell from this picture, can you see it.  I constructed the block wrong. Had to get out the trustee seam ripper and reassemble.  Then came along the second hiccup, major hiccup. This had to do with my sewing machine. I could sew along till when the seams all came together when my thread would break. I'd rethread, tried again and it would work until I got to the next congested point where all the seams meant. Sure enough break again. I put up with this for about 10 rethreads and just about pulled my hair out when I said the heck with this.  So I unplugged the big expensive machine and put in my trusty old 1970s sears Kenmore. Sure enough ...

What's Up 06.28.16

Yesterday morning I wasn't feeling good, so I got a late start on things. Didn't have a chance to show what was up on my design wall. So I'll share now what I have up on the wall. I have all the units completed for the Metro Twist top. This is a Sew Kind of Wonderful pattern using their Quick Curve ruler. And it is a quick curve to assemble.  I can do these units without any pins. That's the joy of it. Now that I have all the units assembled now it's a matter of deciding placement of the units. I like to put them up on the wall, and then take a picture.  Then from the picture it give me a better perspective of balance of colored and contrast. I try not to fuss around too much on this, I can drive myself nuts with it. Since its a donation quilt and will not be  shown or judged in anyway, I'll go with what looks good. Not perfection Sometimes you can't get something perfect anyway no matter...

Working Blues

OK that doesn't sounds quite like that, it's the blue Metro Twist. I finished getting the units sewn and have half of them trimmed. Was able to get the half that was trimmed sewn together. I so wanted to get more done this evening but I was interrupted while locking up the chickens. It was already past sunset by the time I got out to the hen house, I didn't want to stop working on trimming. Anyway I went out there and notice that most of the girls were on the roost and not in the nesting boxes but it is unusually warm, like a spring day. There were 5 on roost I thought, so I looked in the boxes to start counting the others. Figured I check for eggs while I was looking. First one I put my hand in I got a gravel sound, disturb one. Went on to the other boxes and found two more eggs. The girls are starting to lay a decent amount now. Then it dawn on me that I only counted one box occuppied. Well sometimes they will double up...
