A New Scone Recipe

I have a weakness for scones and have done pretty well not having them all the time. In fact I haven't made any this year. But on Mennonite Girls Can Cook  they have an Apple Pie Scone recipe that looked yummy and I broke. Had to make them, was going to yesterday after I got back from Tulsa but by the time I did we had a strong storm roll through. When there is lightening I have to unplug my modem and router, otherwise it can get fried. Which meant I could not get the recipe off their blog. So this afternoon after coming back from being at Sager Creek Quilt Shop for a class, I made them.  (I'll share the neat pattern we worked on tomorrow)  They were good so I thought I would share this with you. They say it's okay to as long as I give them credit and link back to them. And if you get a chance you might want to go mennonite girls can cook  because they have wonderful recipes and a large collections APPLE PIE SCONES 2 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 c

A Basic "Start Here" Scone Recipe

Today is the 30's club at Sager Creek Quilt Shop and the ladies decided they want to have a tea social. So we all wore hats and were encouraged to bring something from the 30's. I bought my enamel tea pot and kettle collection. You know a tea is not proper without scones, so I searched the internet and ended up going to one of my favorite baking resource and that was King Arthur Flour website. So all the credit goes to them and there many more recipes to check out  king arthur flour . Here is their  recipe Here's your basic "start here" scone recipe. While this simple vanilla scone is delicious as is, it's also the perfect vehicle for your favorite add-ins; we happen to love dried cranberries and walnuts. Though chocolate chips are tempting, too! Our guarantee:  These tender scones will have a dark-gold outer crust, and a light-gold, moist inner crumb. They'll taste mildly of butter and vanilla.  Volume    Ounces

Cinnamon Chip Scones

I have a thing for the Cinnamon Chip Scones at Panera Bread, so the other day I was looking around for the recipe. Came across this recipe and gave it a try. Now I did add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the mix and to the cinnamon on the top of the scones. I really like cinnamon. Boy were they delicious, actually too good. Now I realize some of you have enough snow already and this picture is just another cold  snowy  one but here in Oklahoma we are in a very serious drought and we will take any moisture we can get. We had rain then some sleet and then this  morning  we woke up to this. A couple of inches of snow.   And a warm scones with a cup of hot coffee really hits the spot. http://heritageschoolhouse.blogspot.com/ Cinnamon Chip Scones (from Simple and Delicious magazine) 12 servings 3 1/4 cups flour 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar,  divided 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon (my add) 3/4 cup cold but
