Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm

I hope all the Mothers out there had a good day My day was, very relaxing. Stayed home and spent a few hours in the sewing room. Decided yesterday what pattern I wanted to do for this month RSC, color is pink so went and found some.   I wanted something easy but baby appropriate. Always like the Gingham patterns I've seen out there. Simply enough, just 5" squares   Put them up on the wall to get the pattern straight and in just little over an hour I'm done with the top.  Love it. Some of today was finishing adding the hexes to the Winterse Hejxes mystery.  Now I need to figure out the next colors to use. Yesterday I did get a little more done on with nine patches. Started making all of these, need 30 blocks Hard to believe that there are 81 -1" squares in this block Just plugging along Do hope you had a good day. till later Linking up with So Scrappy Kathy's qui

I haven't done a lot of machine quilting, less than 40 hours in and I do think it's a challenge. I hear if you doodle it helps. I don't doodle and so it's hard at time to think ahead on where I should be stitching.  I know, I know... Practice and more practice is what it takes and these past two days I have. So I wound some bobbins.... ready to go I finished the Baby Blue.   I tried my hand at stippling and I'm not sure what it's called but its like half an orange peel. I maintain a smooth curve is tough at times.  Thought of this for the border  Getting a little better towards the end. Then I went ahead and sandwiched the Wonky Log Cabin  and quilted it today. I thought wavy lines from top to bottom would be one to try on this one. Again getting smooth curve is something I need more practice.  I was able to finish quilting and put the binding on.   All done with March and April RCS Linkin

Well this morning we woke up to a light snow on the ground and temp of 26.  And never got above 45.... Loved it but I figure this is the last till next winter. Perfect day for the excuse of staying in the sewing room and decided to start this months RSC.... which the color is YELLOW This month I'm trying something new, Wonky Log Cabin. Got the ideal from Amy over at Diary of a Quilter. She is doing charitable projects that we can help. She calls it  Here is a link for more info   Started out going trough the tub and grabbing yellow scraps and then pressing some. Following her directions , I separated the scraps by size and  and started sewing the centers. Then like a traditional log cabin you start sewing strips around the center.   Had to quit to start dinner, stew ... feels like stew weather... cold. Made a good start and it is going together very easily, refreshing not to be precise. Last month colo

Here it is the end of the month and I have more finishes than I thought. The latest two finishes are totally done. Scandinavian Christmas is quilted and binding on. Here are a group of pictures. I just think this backing is perfect. The other finish is what I called my travel project. This knitted shawl stayed in a bag out in the car. And has for about 3 years, but now it's done... YEAH Finish size is 26" x 66" RSC for February Plans are to machine quilt it in March. Then I finally finish the last of the RSC from 2015. Call this one Splash of Color , even thou I believe the pattern does have a name, just can't remember. Did finish a crochet baby blanket made from yarn in my stash Feels very good to have finishes. Just now as I was writing the title it's hard to believe it's 2018,  I realize that it is 2018 but I still feel sometimes like it shouldn't. Oh well that's life. Friday after I finished Splash of Color , needed to figure out whats next so went to the stack of UFOs Decided on Dreamy Hexagon. this is where I left off. Had the center finished and was going to start on the borders. First one easy peasy as you can see  Next border is square in a square. Well I couldn't start on these until Sunday. I spent Saturday morning helping the "Man of the Place" and then another couple of hours trying to find the "square 2" ruler. Couldn't find it anywhere so I ended up driving to Sager Creek and purchasing a new and bigger one. The one I have goes up to 6" square but the larger one will go up to a 12" block. These are 4' finished blocks and needed 36 of them. Cut and started chain piecing yesterd
