Glutton for Punishment

I guess I am just that.  (Update here, I making this my  November NewFO . Click on link to see the others)  Bonnie Hunter is doing another mystery and I hadn't joined in before and glad I didn't because they were a little to busy of a pattern but this time she saids "First off – this mystery will NOT be as intense as the last two years have been.  You can rest a bit easier on that factor alone.  I’ve worked really hard the past couple of years and so have you.  I thought we needed a fun break that will still use up a lot of stash in a very fun and beautiful quilt.  And that is how we find ourselves on EASY STREET!" On my side bar I put her button, so if you wish to join in too. Now I am not following her color choices because I just don't have a stash large enough in those colors but I do have a great deal of 1800's reproduction fabrics. Here is my choices The reds look more brown than red. The first clue is to make 4 patch

Day 4 Where did the time go.

Love this picture It's hard to believe it's the last day and I feel like I haven't made a dent. I figure you could lock me in my sewing room for a year and I probably still wouldn't have it all done.  I think I need to make this my motto What do you think. Being that it is Sunday I'll get my sewing done in spurts.  I'm going to get in a early start, now 8:30 and see what I can done before church, then afterwards I'll get back and give an update. Until then let the fun begin. Alright it's 1:30 and I'm ready to get back to sewing. This morning I was able to get this months Stash Bee blocks. I hope I was able to get them bright enough for her. They were very easy to put together, and 12.5 " block Now I am going to make the small churn dash blocks to go on the side of one of the applique block of Scandinavian Christmas I finished a while back We'll see how much I can get done before I need t

Day 3 - Sewing Goddess

It's day 3 and I'm rearing to go.  Right now I feel like the lady in this drawing that my Grandmother drew for my Uncle back in the 1930's A Sewing Goddess But in reality, I probably look  more like this So no matter how I look or feel I'm ready. I was thinking that I need to get caught up on my Stash Bee blocks. I have last month and this month to do so I think I'll do that first. Seeing how the temps outside are cold, 42 degrees. I will not be going out there for a little while. I have already taken care of the chickens and fed "the man of the place", so I'm good. But I will need to take a break later to go out and cover up my plants and bring some in because we are going to have a least a frost, possibly a freeze. That's later thou. I'll be back later with pictures of what I was able to get done. Till then  I swear I must be the slowest quilter on the planet. I spent all afternoon in the sewing room and

Day 2

It's now 11:00 in the morning and I did get the corners sewn on the William Morris I like these corners, there are 3 that look like this But I'm thinking about redoing this corner. I'll see how I feel about later, if its still bugging me I'll redo it I have had this book for awhile and I find it very helpful. Helped me remember how to do mitered corners. So now I'm at Sager Creek hoping for others to sit and sew with but it's not to be.  I'll go to the store on my way back home. It's in the 50's today and I think it's Chili weather. When I get home I will start on the boys quilts and this quilt.  Some Kind of Wonderful. Back in awhile I'm back, groceries away, ate a little something and just digging these cool temperature outside. It's drizzly, gray and cold. Makes me want to sew even more. But the first thing Ill do is get together all the pieces I have ready to se

9:00 P.M. I Quit Day 1

Well here it is the end of day one and I was able to get a couple of things done. But did not get the William Morris finished.  It took me a while to get the fabric aligned to be able to get them to match. Not as perfect as I would like.  But it will work for me. I do not plan on putting it in any quilt show. It's taped and ready to sew and it's 9:00 and I am just a little worn out to trust myself to do the job. This is where I'll start tomorrow.  I did take a break from dealing with the corners to do the attaching of applique spaceships to the bibs for the "little dudes" And crochet the last part on my basket. Worked out nicely. Now I'll sit here and spend some time with "the man of the place" before it time for bed. Not a bad day. There is tomorrow Day 2

Update Day 1

Well after the usually "I have not  done this in a few days and I'm so excited to be sewing some" problem. I'm able to proceed.  The tension goes screwy  Needless to say after ripping out the bad stitches and cleaning out the bobbin area I was able to sew on the small outer border. Cut the strip for the outside border and put it all on the wall. I really don't like the look of just adding it straight across like that, so I am going to see about mitering the corners. The pattern repeats every 3 inches and I haven't done the math yet but I would really like to do it that way..  I have done mitered corners but not with a pattern like this. Little scary trying something new. Fingers crossed. Its 1:30 now and I'll have lunch and go about with a few things I need to tend to and I'll be back at it. Till then

Joining in Quiltathon Day 1

I was suppose to have our stitch group today but with most of us out and about it was cancelled, so what am  I to do? Well I could give my house a good cleaning, NOPE I could can the apples I have, MAYBE (squeeze it in) Read blogs, I would like to but,  NOPE Sew YES! YES! YES! I had my mind set on it and I have a few things I need to complete before "the man of the place " is home on vacation next week. (Can't get any sewing done when he's home) So to give me the feel like I'm with others stitching, I'm joining in with  Judy at Patchwork Times in what she calls a Quiltathon.   You devote yourself anytime in these next 4 days to quilting/sewing  and posting about it off and on showing what's up and what you get done.  I wish I could say I can devote all day, all 4 days to sewing but around here I have some things I need to do. You know farm chores but I am going to devote the time not doing chores to sewing and not anything else.

Monday Update

OK I said I would say what I was able to get done. First on the list... I did get all the strips needed for my Some Kind of Wonderful quilt cut. Plus I was able to get the squares cut too.  Second on the list... I'm disappointed the I did not get more than 3 houses done. I forgot about our bible study, Sisters in Scripture was this evening and I had to get tonight's block done to show how to. So here was tonight's block, Salome. I still have some paper to clean up and than do a satin stitch where the 2 different fabrics meet. Then when it came to the third on the list, working out in the garden I guess I am not totally over the head cold cause I was pooped by this afternoon, so I had to have a nap. It would have been better weather wise today than it is suppose to be tomorrow. We are in a wind advisory for tomorrow I want to share a blog I came across just the other day. It is called   Sustainable Eats For the next 12 months each
