What's Up and On My List

I mean't to write yesterday but time got away from me and then I just to tired to write last night. What's up on the design is a couple projects I hope to get completed this month. One is the Wonky Log Cabin working on 6 more to go along with the 6 I have completed. I am having so much fun making these. I really do need to make more improve. Plus it is such a pleasure to use up scraps. Then on to the other blocks up on the wall. Have 4 of the 9 blocks needed for the Kith and Kin Again this is a stash buster, using up 2 1/2" strips.   I have found a few nice patterns using 2 1/2" strips and boy do I have the strips already cut and in tubs. Now to the List, have 10 items listed. 1. Finish the Lime Crosses 2. RSC - yellow-   Wonky Log Cabin 3. Prep some of the outside border for the Vintage Garden 4. Outside border for my Snowman quilt ( I need to take a more currant picture) 5. Finish qui...

The First Finish of the Year

I am so pleased to say I have a finish top for this new year. I'm going to take that as a good sign.   I can cross of my first UFO, #31. It is a Lori Smith pattern called Lily's Garden. It is made using 30's reproduction fabric. I did machine appliqueing, using Ricky Tim's applique paper. The quilt is a wall hanging or crib size, 45" x 45". Used Kona Cotton in Snow for the background. I haven't yet decided if I will attempt to machine quilt myself or have a pro quilt it.  One of my goals is to be good enough at quilting on my domestic machine. I have tried it on a couple of small projects but I really do need to get quite a few more hours under my belt to feel comfortable at it. Right now I feel like hands don't know which way to go half the time or to have my feet to go in sync with my hands. Practice, Practice, Practice. Isn't that what it takes! It's now time for ...

What's (not) Up

I had taken my part of the Quiltathon and meant to give an update each day but somehow the days got away from me. I was able to do a few things and would love to share what I did. Then I will continue with what I plan on doing this upcoming week. Yes I know, Thanksgiving is this week but unfortunately the family are all far away and will not be here for the holiday.  Well on to some happy thoughts, I did get the binding on the Sunflower quilt and now need to hand stitch it down and when I get it done I'll post a finish picture and I did work on Ben's stocking each night. Remember I was going to show a before and after picture.  Here it is. before  After These little quilts are for the grandsons of course and they fit in with what I did this past weekend and what I'll be working on this week I'm still getting use to making two of everything.  I did not get my stash bee block done so I need to work on that this week also b...

New List, just have to

I have a new look for my Things To Do List I find this one so much easier to do and read. Reminds me of being at school and how our assignments would be up on the chalkboard for us to do. And you had to do it or you'd get a bad mark, well I still do not want a bad mark, you know what I mean. I did not tell you how I did on last weeks to do list. With all the errands I had to attend to, that I forgot about it and posting this next weeks to do's also. Well as far as last week goes, I did get most of what I wanted done.  Finished planting fall crop  done Freeze potatoes and onions- did onions but still need to do potatoes Start repairs on hen house  did that by getting supplies needed Decorate front porch  What do you think              6.   Find and buy apples  done     7.   Get a hair cut  done but no photo for this,   PLEASE I was also able to get...

Mondays What's Up

First of all I want thank everyone who participated in the Dots on Dots Blog Hop. It was fun and I had seen so many wonderful projects. Thank you for stopping by and for all of you who decided I was worth following. I hope to not disappoint you or waste your time. Enough said "lets get it on" For those of you from my generations remember that song and phrase. I was so hoping I would have more to show you on the William Morris Quilt but as fate has it I got so far and realized I did not have enough background to for the last block.  I am doing the last of the stitching around the applique. I'm doing this on the machine like Michele Hill suggest, seeing how her pattern was design with that in mind. Using a small (1.5) button hole stitch with Mettler's poly sheen thread. I do not normally use this thread but it is also a shop sample so I needed to follow the suggestion from the designer on how she has done her qu...

What's up Monday

It's been a couple of weeks since I have posted my list and what I am working on. If I would only stay home some, I would get more done and as I write this, I'm off to Tulsa again later on today. We bought a new  mattress  and after almost a week of sleeping on it "the man of the place" find it a little too soft for his liking, so I'm off again to find a replacement. What I have been working on is a Christmas stocking for one of the boys. My daughter loves snowmen and to go along with that I'm making each of the boys a stocking  that will have a snowman on it. This is the first one.  I love working on this, not hard just a lot of time involved. But it will be something they could have all their life. I have to purchase another one of the other little dude. I haven't decided who is getting this one yet. Then there is my to do list. I do not have time right now to go over my last list I posted but I believe I was able to get most of ...

What's Up Monday

What a bright and sunny new day It has been almost a month since I last posted a What's Up. Boy does it feel good to be able to, little by little I getting back into a routine of being home. The first thing I need to get done is this month BOM of Michele Hill's,  Morris Meadow. So here is a list to myself of the top priority of things I want to get done this week I have to admit this is a short list, my clipboard is loaded with a bunch of tasks that I also need to do but I didn't think you would be interested in the mundane things, exp. People to call, chicken chores like cleaning their yard, putting out straw for them or making sure they have clean bedding and water. These are things I do on daily bases and could get boring to others. Hope you have a great day till next time  Kat =^..^=

What's Up Monday

This is what I had up on my design wall when I woke up, and it is what I want to work on. I just have 2 houses and need to make a zillion more, you think I would have more since I am paper piecing them, they go together quickly plus I'm using up my endless pile of scraps Then I am still trying to catch up on the QAL Some Kind of Wonderful  I have  Dec - Feb appliqued and now they started March.... NO PRESSURE I need to finish embroidery in the blocks then assemble the strips together. That means I am cutting 2" strips for sashing between the appliqued blocks.   So here is my THINGS TO DO LIST   for today I'll  be back at the end of my day to show my accomplished tasks Till later Kat =^..^=
