Day 23. Just a day away

Excitement  Hard to believe Christmas is just a day away.  I wasn’t able to post last night because we had FaceTime with my daughters family. An early Christmas celebration because she has to work this weekend.     They opened their gifts and we had a good long visit.  Today was one of keeping busy. My oldest and youngest daughter will be here next week so there is a lot preparation to be done. Did get a little time working on the Piece quilt.  Doesn’t look like much right now but I can start to see the top of the symbol. Here are today and yesterday’s advents Only one day left on the calendar. Today I received a Bio Compression and a  leg sleeve. The person shown me how to use it, which I did this evening. I only need to do the right leg because that is the one which has the Lymphedema. Feels very good on my leg, a massage is what I get. This stimulates the lymphatic system in leg so is help with the fluid removal. I need to do this at least 4-5 days a week for an hour.  Lymphedema do

Day 21: It’s Winter Solstice

Here it is the day of shortest daylight here in the northern hemisphere  One of my favorite times of year.  I like the short days. I can cozy up to a fire and read.  And that is what I did today.  I also did some knitting,  Worked on my Advent knit.  Added another mini, which makes 7 plus the grey yarn.  Slowly moving along. I’m enjoying the process very much now that I have the hang of it.  Here are the past 2 days of the Advent calendar  Again  very pretty, thinking sweater or cardigan.  Tomorrow I’ll go and get my booster and couldn’t be soon enough.  Heaven knows I will do all I can do to avoid getting the virus. That’s all we can do.  I had full intentions on sewing today but just didn’t get to it. Maybe tomorrow when I get back.  I did just fine with the first two shots so maybe I will this time also.  Till tomorrow  Kat

Day 20, Only 5 days till Christmas

4th Sunday of Advent    Christmas is just a few days away and I’ve been doing some last minute shopping and getting gifts in the mail, which has me running around.  I was again too tired to write last night.  I was able to make reusable gift bags to send my daughter’s family theirs gifts in.  It’s only a small imprint but each small bit can add up to a little bigger bit of reducing my waste.  And what a great way to use a little bit of my stash too. I did get my grandson’s Seaman’s Hat done. So cute. Here are a couple of days of Advent calendar. It’s going to a short because I don’t have much more to share.  I have plans to get some sewing on the Peace quilts which I’ll share. Till tomorrow  Kat

Day 18: My Christmas Quilts

I said I would show you the Christmas quilts I’ve made over the years.  I never started out to have such a large collections of Christmas quilts but I’m planning on making more to have even a larger collection. I also have a few tops that need to be quilted still and my goal is to get those done next year so we can enjoy them next Christmas.  Well let’s get started…. Finished it off by hand quilting  #39 Poinsettia  You can still purchase this pattern Love my Gingerbread man quilt design by Marilyn McSpadden.  It was a Block of the month at Sager Creek in Siloam Springs AR This is an embroidered red work one. Day 17, a little catching up

This kitten Tipsy is Buddy’s best friend, they are very close friends. Love this picture    I wanted to show the quilts I have out for Christmas but the day flew by without me going around taking pictures of them so I will do the tomorrow.. plus I’ll dig out the ones that I don’t have out.  But until then I just share some updates.  First of all I have made a little progress on the Seaman hat for the grandson, in fact I’ll have it done by tomorrow and need to because I have to get it in the mail  I feel I’m pushing it waiting till tomorrow to get it off  Then I haven’t done much on my advent knit Full of Minis hat but after the seaman hat is done I’ll be able to devote more time.  The other day I received these two new cookbooks, I heard nothing but good reviews and I’m looking forward to making some baked goods and vegetables dishes.  Now we’ll get caught up on the Advent  Have 3 day’s worth. They are all again are so pretty. I think they’ll all go very well together, in fact I should

Oops, Day 16

I have lost day somewhere, well yesterday that is. I had my last appointment until next year and then went to the grocery store and Costco. It was dinner time by the time I got home.  Another day shot to hell sort of. I was so tired afterward that I fell asleep very early. Today was a very good day but I have nothing to show for it. I met with my stitch sisters today. I haven’t seen any of them since 2019. Between my mom dealing with her cancer, which took her life, the pandemic and then all what I’ve been through this year, 2 years have passed. We sat and all caught up on each other’s life. The other ladies have seen each other on a few occasions in those 2 years but not much. I have no pictures at all of today and apologize for such a disappointing post. Reads more like a journal entry. But I felt I owed you some sort of appearance. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow

Day 14 A little bit of this and that

Hard to believe Christmas is just 11 days away.  And I have only a couple of days left to get the gifts ready to ship before Friday.   I have most of the items finish but still need to finish the hat.   This is all I have done so far . Been working on it some today but it looks as though I better get busy. Did another coaster but no need for a picture, looks just like the last one on the loom This one Then I’m making these for all the book readers in the family (which is everyone)  we are all avid readers. Corner bookmarks. So easy to make and all you need is scraps of fabric..  I’ll be matching fabric to who I’m giving it to.  If you are interested in making your own there are of course a lot YouTube videos that shows you how. Or if you want I could post pictures showing you if you want me to, just let me know in the comments. Todays and yesterday advent from Sherry Iris yarns What a yummy bunch of minis, getting excited on what I can make with them. I have been forgetting to mentio

Day 13 My Christmas "Chicken" Tree

Blogmas 2021 My "Chicken" Tree  I had made all this last year for Christmas and to be in full disclosure, I haven't taken it down. It stayed up in the corner of the living room all year. That is how much I love it Update here 12-13-21 I wrote those words and this post 9 years ago on this day. And that tree has remained up the whole time except a few years ago I changed the tree to a aluminum one. You will see the original pictures of the tree. Except the first one and this next one.  I had found a crochet pattern on Ravelry for these rooster ornament . I ended up only making one a rooster (love machine) and the rest to be my flock I have     If you leave off the tail feathers they look like hens.  So I made them to look like my flock of girls. Then I added these fake eggs I found at Hobby Lobby, except the ones in the wooden box at the bottom of the tree, they are real.  I put the rooster at the top, looking over his hens.
