Last day of Blogtober

Hard to believe it’s already the end of October and tomorrow is the first day of November.    Where did it go….. It was another gorgeous day but come next week we’ll see the temperatures drop.  Which means the tomato plants I have still growing in there pots will take a hit. The darn things are all the way to the eaves of the house. I believe that’s  eight feet high and they still have tomatoes on the vines   The tomato did pretty well this year   The beets should do okay for now. I will be picking the greens to eat tomorrow.  While “ the man of the place” was repairing the well house  I was doing some long needed cleaning up around here. With all that has happened, working in the yard has been a slow process back to.  Started with the removal of the Christmas lights we have had up, and way too long.  Half of the were not working so unfortunately I needed to throw them away. Wish there was a way to recycle these. If there is I don’t know what.  The porch is next Needs a lot done.  Se

Blogtober Day 30

I wish I could tell you I’ve been awol because I have been out somewhere exciting but that’s not the case. The first part of the week I was in a funk.  I had no motivation, interest in doing anything creative. Not even writing.  I tried to send my package to Australia but the USPS are not taking packages. They cannot tell me when they will. I am so disappointed at this. I also checked with FedEx but I was shocked at how much they wanted to ship my box, it was $ 330.00.  Can you believe that. That is more then the value of the contents.  Tuesday and Wednesday was spent in Tulsa. Nothing just PT and errands like taking in the recycling and donating stuff Beside Post Office and FedEx, had to by the  grocery store and Petco. Did very little knitting, no sewing   That’s it. The only thing I can say was positive was we decided on the Subaru Ascent and talked with the guy at the dealership and there is such a lack of cars, new and used apparently that it could be a month or two before we’ll

Blogtober Day 24

Today was a good day in so many ways. Was able to have my work and exercises done by noon. While having my coffee out on the porch I had a couple of visitors. The biggest spider I’ve seen all years.  Nothing like having natural  living spooky Halloween decorations. Then not far from the spider was the small baby lizard 🦎  This afternoon I spent finishing up organizing and wrapping up the gifts 🎁  In the morning I’ll pack it all up  and take it down to the post office. That gives it 35 days to make it there to Australia. This evening I was working on the binding and had my helper again.  Lovie can be the sweetest cat. Needless to say I’m not getting much done. Till tomorrow  Kat

Blogtober Day 23

Hunting with mussel loader started today so “the man of the place” was gone all day.  And I had the place to myself and was able to get a couple jobs done.  I finally got to doing some work on the Hocus Pocus quilt.  Wish I had more to show but I just haven’t been sewing much this week. I told myself this top will be done before Halloween   Then after the past couple of weeks making, gathering and getting a few items I now have enough to make a 25 Day Advent Calendar. I’m using recycled wrapping but I will need to look for a little bigger paper sack. When I do that I can next find a box and ship it off to Australia. I plan on Monday hoping that will give it enough time to get there.  Last little bit is blocking the swatch.  Till tomorrow  Kat

Blogtober Day 22

I am so loved.  Had all 3 of them on and around my lap this evening , which pretty much put an damper to me working on knitting. Before they all decided they needed to nap on me I had been working on the second set of mitts.  I have been enjoying making these. Very easy pattern. It is a free pattern on Purl Soho website I believe it’s called the stockinette hand warmers. For some reason I didn’t copy the cover page. Today I also finished the  crochet Grinchmas blanket. I just love the edging to this blanket. Never have seen one like it before and what sold me on making it. Just the basic granny stripe pattern, very simple.  So pretty, makes me feel Christmasy  Still need to take of all the loose ends.   I’ll weave them in and this will officially be done.    YEAH………..   Did made a swatch also for the socks I want to make. I have mostly made socks out of finger weight yarn and the pattern I want to try is for DK weight. And the yarn I have said as it worsted weight. Tomorrow I’ll blocke

Blogtober Day 20 and 21

I missed yesterday because I wanted to share something crafty instead of just boring stuff. Yesterday was just another PT day and figured you didn’t want to hear more of the same old, same old. So I was trying to finish the mug rugs and share them. But heck it took me until 9:30 before I was done weaving. I still needed to knot the warp ends. They look good and pretty much the way I imagine. Today was an interesting day.  This morning was pretty chilly and had a heavy dew. Which made the spider webs in the grass show up.  So cool. Never noticed that when the dews not there.  I check the bucket with the walnuts soaking. It’s been a week now and I believe the solution looks ready to use. Will need to prep the yarn for dyeing. I’m thinking about dyeing enough yarn to knit a cardigan. Thought about a sweater but I don’t have a brown cardigan. And I really want one. Now heaven knows it will probably take me ages to finish. Today we spent a majority of it checking out new cars. My Forester

Blogtober Day 19

Hello  I’m Lover boy and already spoiled rotten.   Today I had my first session with the therapist for the Lymphedema.  Didn’t know what to expect, maybe something like what I’ve been doing theses past few weeks with the physical therapist.  But I was surprised that only one thing happened and that was a very nice and relaxing message of my lymph system of effected parts. She said that she will teach me how to massage myself. And next week I’ll be shown some exercises that will help with swelling. After that I by JoAnns to get some more yarn. It was 25% off and I not sure but I think Lion Brand is going to discontinue the Fisherman’s Wool.  It a rustic yarn in natural colors.  So I loaded up on what little they had.  I have another coaster done. Just 2 more to go. It’s a little project and it’s going quickly.  I’m also thinking about using some of the yarn to make a pair of these socks besides the mug rugs. Don’t they look so comfy and warm.  What do you think? Till tomorrow  Kat

Blogtober Day 18.

I thought I would share my view off my back porch. I am so lucky to be able to have my morning coffee (weather permitting) on the porch. This morning was perfect, in fact the whole day has been. I stayed home today and had the most relaxing day.  Was able to do my chores, exercises and worked a little on knitting.  But that was pretty much it…… Except….. Had the most luxurious nap in ages   I sat up my cot underneath the mulberry tree. The weather was perfect and the consent breeze kept me very comfortable. Nothing is more soothing to my soul than to hear nature’s music. The rustling of leaves in the trees, birds fluttering from branch to branch, calling to each other. To have the time to just lay there on the cot, look up and daydream. Haven’t done that in ages. Slept so soundly, in fact 2 hours.  I know this isn’t  anything exciting or interesting but it doesn’t have to be for me. It is just great to be alive and have these simple pleasures to enjoy. Hope you are able to find some

Blogtober it’s the 17th

I didn’t have a chance to post earlier because I have been visiting with my youngest daughters at her place this weekend. I left Friday and had a great time with her.  We went to the farmers market there in Stillwater  Not a very big market but the vendors there were very nice. Had a good variety of veggies and fruits. Couple of bakery’s and fresh meat.  We then went and had breakfast, afterward we went to the library for a book sale.  I found a couple books for myself and quite a few on the Civil War for “the man of the place” He is a big history buff on the Civil War.  While in Stillwater had to go to the OSU Gardens.  Been a couple years since I’ve been to the gardens. They have done a lot of changes and all so beautiful. I just love going there. I get so inspired each time. they film a weekly garden show there on PBS but you can see them also on YouTube. Oklahoma Gardening is what to look for.  Here are just a few pictures  There was also yard art. These pieces made from dinnerware
