So Forgetful

I have forgotten to post this earlier, it is the I have done this for the past couple of years and also share apron patterns here . I am so sorry for not bringing this up sooner.  If you haven't been to  EllynAnne Geisel   website , you should. It is a fun site with so much info in the history and her love for aprons and linens and what they represent in our culture. She is the author of the books and Also on her blog she has a link to Craftsy that has a pattern for an apron by her,  EllynAnne. For more info of National Tie One On Day Go Here

Apron Pattern #2

I promised another apron and here is my spin on a free pattern for a groovy apron . courtesy of http://www.sew4home.com/ This site where I found this pattern has a very good step by step tutorial. Better than I could do with what I have. But I will be adding in my spin on here. All you need is 1 yard of fabric, being 1/2 yd of one design and 1/2 yd of a coordinate. And 1 dish towel. All the cutting instructions for ties, waistband, hem band and a pattern for the apron are available for you to download , 11 pages total or  6 pages for apron pattern that you'll tape them together. I am going to have to learn how to make my own download file, that way I can post  them for you My spin to this apron is by adding a towel. I have a thing about wiping my hands on my apron/clothes instead of finding the towel. So what is better than putting the two together. APRON/TOWEL Now a regular towel  is a little too long, you w...

Update on Civil War Blocks

Yesterday I was able to do a couple more so it brings my total to 9, whooo-hooo!!! #11 London Square #10 Lincoln's Platform I also had been working on some applique for the 30's clubs quilt.. Next month is the last month for the BOM of the 30's and I will be assembling all the blocks together I have one more that looks the same but is larger and then another to finish appliquing. Then I realize with all that I have been doing that I forgot to give  the conclusion of the snowman quilt and the putting on of the last border. I had full intention of completing it last week but I did not realize the fabric given and the instructions did not correlate until after I had cut the fabric and was assembling it. So that made me short. Not much, but enough where I had to go get some more fabric. I have to wait to finish because my quilt is used at my friends shop for the sample of a BOM offer this year. I'll have to wait to show it after next mon...

Make a Dish Towel Apron

Here is the first of the apron patterns I promise to show how to make. This one is very easy and affordable. You need two dish towels, and 1 1/4 yard of 3/4" twill tape (available at Joann's) I had a package of three so I picked the two I liked, cost was $4.00. The towel that serves as the bib should be cut down to about 12" wide and hemmed along its long edges so that it is not too wide for the chest of the wearer.  To hem folded  the edge 1/4" and press and than fold again 1/4 and press. Then stitch. Take the one you want for bib and lay it  placed vertically, serves as the bib of the apron and the backside of its pockets. The second, positioned horizontally across the bottom half of the first towel, wraps around the wearer's hips and provides the front of the pockets. You might need to cut the bottom of the towel to make it the desired depth for pockets. I had to take off about 6", (th...

Giving Thanks - Thanksgiving

Well tomorrow is November and that means Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Thanksgiving is a time to remember all we are thankful for. But it can also be a time of giving back to someone else, that is what Tie One On Day is all about. From EllynAnne Geisel website; " Women clad in aprons have traditionally prepared the Thanksgiving meal, and it is within our historical linkage to share our bounty." EllynAnne Geisel Four years ago, I noticed that Thanksgiving was talked about in terms more commonly associated with stress, than joy. I remembered my mother’s absolute love of Thanksgiving, as a day more than anything else of sharing and gratefulness. So I created National Tie One On Day™ as an annual opportunity to return the "give" to Thanksgiving by sharing our good fortune with someone in need of a kind gesture National Tie One On Day™ has nothing to do with purchasing anything special or even driving! Participation is simple. On the day befo...
