August Finishes

Here we are again, another month that seem to just fly by. Its amazing considering we all seem to suffer one way or another from the weather. Here in NE Oklahoma it was extreme heat and humidity. A good thing because of it I was inside a lot, which meant I was keeping myself busy with projects. Was pretty successful too. This is going to be a picture heavy post. I'll start with the one that I had been working on the past few months the Spring Fling Shop Hop from 2015. It turned out so pretty, and next its off to the quilter.   I love how the shops had fabric made just for them, naming the towns and the state. I have also slowly been going through boxes in the garage. and in one of them I found the top I made back in 2012. It was one of Bonnie Hunters mystery quilts, Easy Street.  I didn't have it quilted at the time because I just thought it wasn't complete so I put it away. Well I saw it and realized what was missing, a boarder. It's the only one of her mysteries I hav

Hey it’s Summer

Wow has it been hot here these past few weeks. Yucky…… I don’t know about you but I’m a cool weather girl, me and heat struggle to be together. I’m getting more like myself in all ways these days which means I’m can tolerate some humidity but still limits my time to be outside and active. Which means I have been doing more inside.  Since I haven’t posted anything since March, it’s about time I do. Since the last post I have had a few quilts machined quilted and have been working on bindings. The Peace quilt has been finished and given to its new owner. Turned out so cool. Love it. It will be loved and used Then another quilt that was in the group of tops that were quilted is from Laundry Basket . This one I had finished a few years ago and it’s nice to be now working on the binding.  Here it is being trimmed up to have the binding attached which is what I am in the process of doing  This quilt is for me and will be another addition to my Christmas quilts collection.  I’ll show more p

Whats Up....... Quilting

I know that for what little I've posted so far this year it's been mainly all about knitting.  For over a year now I've done very little quilting and that was what for years was my main creative outlet. I've been going through a drought and just had no interest or motivation but it seems as thought a switch has been turned on and now I can't stop thinking about what I want to work on.  Last year I started the 2 1/2 strip PEACE in PIECES quilt by J Michelle Watts. At the start of this year I had only 1/3 done. This isn't a difficult pattern, just one that takes time because I found that I needed to focus on a row at a time. A lot of that could be I was still struggling with being able to comprehend it all. But as time has past, my mind is more clear and focused. The doctor told me at my last visit it takes about a year for the chemo to clear out of my body. It's been a year now and I can tell a difference. There is some truth to that. I can now tell you that

Blogtober, day 6

Today I had physical therapy at 10:45 which meant I needed to leave the house around 9:30. After PT I spent time in Tulsa. Went to JoAnn’s, Michael’s and Walmart.  Had to get some batting so I can machine quilt two table runner  And then I was looking for some fall decorations but didn’t find anything I liked.  Except I did get 3 mums plants.  When I finally got home I put on the binding to a quilt ….. With a little help from Lover Boy This evening I m going swatch another yarn for my mitts. The yarn I picked out yesterday will not work. Need something a little thicker.  I’m tired after such a long day so I’ll make this short   Till tomorrow  Kat

Have a new video ready

Finally I have another video made. This time I'm sharing some FO's, Wip's and future plans. I was able to get one of moms quilts finished. She was getting pretty weak and was hard to focus so I needed do some redoing on this top which took me a little time. Plus I just didn't have my heart into it. But I do need to get them done.  Have 2 left to do and would like to get them finished before Christmas so the girls could have them as gifts from her. Then I did get a top made for me that was originally for my daughter. Do have another one cut out but debating whether I want to finish it. There are other patterns I have cut out and ready to sew and would rather spend my time on them.  Here are links to the Granny Shawlette Helen Steward's Pebble Beach Shawl Crabapple Hill pattern for the Halloween Journey Plans for this month This one I would love to get to but the other two I will be working o

What's up and some English paper piecing

( I wrote this Tuesday morning and now it's Wednesday) Later on I'm going to post pictures from the retreat I attended this past weekend. After coming back from a four day Ridge retreat, which was wonderful, my next post will be a collection of photos from there.  Up on my design wall.... I am finishing the first five blocks for the Farmer's Wife  1930's S ampler.  I wasn't able to get much sewing done today because of trying to get unpacked and organized plus there was a guild meeting that I  attend. It was in support of my friend Sharon first meeting as president. Then the presenter was Linda Humphrey, who brought a small part of her collection which is English paper piecing or mosaic pieces Linda comes from a long line of quilters.... in fact she's fifth-generation quilt-maker. Has worked for A ccuCut  and is now working for Mountain Mist. I would like to share with you some photos of her collection that she brought ... you might nee
