Blogtober; two for one 13 &14

I apologize for not writing yesterday but absolutely nothing of interest happened yesterday. I had physical therapy in the morning and then went to Costco after that in the afternoon. Came home, took a nap, cook dinner and went to bed early. That was pretty much my day yesterday so I didn’t feel like writing about that. But today was a whole different day. Early this morning I had an appointment with another type a therapist that was going to check my right leg. I have been having some swelling in my whole leg. The physical therapist I've been going to said it was edema and that I needed to have it checked out. So that’s what I did this morning. Yes I do have a lymphedema and have a 7% increase in size between my right and my left leg, which is not too bad. The course of action is to wear compression leggings and also do some form of massage to help get the fluid back up. So that’s all good.   Since  I got home at a decent time,  I was able to do some cleaning and ...

Blogtober Day 7

The mug rugs are dry now and I trimmed up any loose yarn ends and they are so cute. What do you think? Today I spent at least six hours either driving or in Tulsa again today.  Foggy out this morning. Very pretty My father had an eye appointment so I had to go to his house pick him up and then take him to Tulsa where the appointment was. Then we went and had something to eat. I found it a very enjoyable day I haven’t spent time with my dad since we went to California in August. His eyes are fine, nothings changed in the past six months. My father has age related macular degeneration disease Which means he gets his eyes checked often, at least every six months sometimes three months. When I got home today I ended up taking a nap. I was tired after the past two days. While waiting for my dad I took my knitting with me. I started the new mitts and I do like the yarn, I just wish it was 100% wool but it’s a blend and seeing how this is my first time using this pattern I’m OK with it. I...

Tid bits and Poinsettia Care

What a perfect Sunday and feeling blessed.... which hope yours is too. Was able to get a little sewing in this morning, this Tuesday is 30's Club and I want to have Jan. and Feb. BOM ready to give Pam so she can make up kits for participance. Along with sewing I cooked up a double batch of no-salt spaghetti sauce to share with my parents. Tomorrow mom has her CHF check up and just give it to them. This evening I plan on doing a few more hats to donate to http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/Affiliate/Little-Hats-Big-Hearts_UCM_487734_SubHomePage.jsp I am running out of this soft red yarn.  Do have this  but I find it scratchy which I can use on something else, so maybe when in Tulsa I'll go by Joann's or something to get some soft yarn. And work on weaving up some more wash clothes. I have 2 blooming poinsettia plants (Euphorbia pulcherrima) so far this year and it is one of my favorite houseplants that I eagerly wait each ye...

30's Club

Tonight is our monthly 30's Club at Sager Creek and we have a very good turn out. Must be because of the spring like weather we are having.  There was 16 of us. So today I spent the day working on next months blocks. That leaves only one month left to do and boy will I be ready for this to be completed.  Tonight I went home with all the completed blocks that I had made for the class. Even though I had made them, they stayed here at the shop.  I have a setting I want to use that isn't the one that's in the book  Like this one here's Now I need to decide what I want to use for the color squares. I figure it will be another solid but needs to be 30's related colors. My goal is to have this assembly by the April meeting. By then everyone have all the kits and maybe they'll  them done.  I'm hoping that this will give them ideas to consider. Would like to show now the stuff others brought in for show and tell. ...

A New Scone Recipe

I have a weakness for scones and have done pretty well not having them all the time. In fact I haven't made any this year. But on Mennonite Girls Can Cook  they have an Apple Pie Scone recipe that looked yummy and I broke. Had to make them, was going to yesterday after I got back from Tulsa but by the time I did we had a strong storm roll through. When there is lightening I have to unplug my modem and router, otherwise it can get fried. Which meant I could not get the recipe off their blog. So this afternoon after coming back from being at Sager Creek Quilt Shop for a class, I made them.  (I'll share the neat pattern we worked on tomorrow)  They were good so I thought I would share this with you. They say it's okay to as long as I give them credit and link back to them. And if you get a chance you might want to go mennonite girls can cook  because they have wonderful recipes and a large collections APPLE PIE SCONES 2 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon salt...

My Newest Toy

First of all I want to say I am not promoting this product and getting anything in return for sharing this. I have a non profit blog, it's all me folks. Anyway onto my newest toy. Before I even started the Whole30 I had been trying to find a way to make veggie noodles.. Didn't want to go the grating way. I have bought 2 kinds of hand held style of noodle makers. These were both hard to hold onto and very wasteful.   was able to return this one. So I decided I would spend a little more and try this one. Well it was worth it so far. Here is my first attempt and was very easy to use. With just a little of an end when done. I plan on trying other veggies beside zucchini. I think I found my veggie/fruit noodle maker

Hard Boiled Eggs in your Instant Pot

I was going through the pictures on my camera when I found these I had taken last year when I cooked eggs in the pressure cooker.  Last year I purchased an Instant Pot and was finding ways to use it. Telling my friends about what I had and wanted to do is when Pam told me about how she hard boils eggs in her cooker. I had never heard of that before. Now that was something I needed to try Well time went by and I forgot what she said so I went to the Instant Pot website and there is where I found these instructions, Pour 1 cup water into the pot and position a steamer basket or trivet atop the steam rack. Place 3-5 eggs, using canning lids or metal cookie cutters to separate/hold the eggs. Close lid and steam valve.  Press Steam setting, and adjust time down to 4 minutes.  (5 minutes for hard boiled). At end of cycle, place a cool cloth on the lid and quick release the steam valve.  Use tongs to transfer eggs to a cold wat...
