Superb Sunday

The title says it all, this weekend has been a blessing of what's to come. We have had two days of some perfect fall weather. I just want to sit out on the back porch and read, enjoy the weather. But I think instead of reading I'm going to take Ben's I spy quilt and try to finish up the binding. I've been meaning for a while now to write this post on how the boys I Spy quilts came about and was constructed. It started with Audrey over at Quilty Folks and her Quilty 365 challenge. I decided then, when I saw the challenge, that this is going to be the boys I Spy quilt. Because you see I've been collecting and thinking about how I was going to go about making that quilt and when I saw her post and challenge, I knew that was what I wanted to do. Now knowing that I had 2 quilts I was going to be making and realized it wasn't feasible for me to appliqué the circle down by hand. So I decided to use the method where you sew fusible interfacin

Sunday Best

So happy to be able to say and show something on this last Sunday of August, which is so hard to believe that another month has gone by. You know it's 119 days till Christmas, WowWee. My day is making, attaching and sewing down the binding on the 2 I Spy quilts. I decided to just use the leftover trimmed pieces from the backs. It will be a colorful binding don't you think. I like to start with a 2 1/4 inch strip, I find 2 1/2 too wide and 2 inch usually not enough. I had thought about putting it all on by machine but I like to do the last step by hand. Find it very soothing. So my afternoon/evening is near perfect in someways.  Hope yours is too. Linking up with Kathy"s Quilt

My third attempt

This has been such a busy, exciting and tiring month. Been able to finalize all the flooring and has it scheduled for installment next week. Had done cleaning and organizing and redoing the house all in preparation for the flooring plus the "little dude's" visit.  The "little dudes" were here this past week and boy was it so good to have them here. It went by way too fast as always, you just wish time would slow down when you have events like this. But we had a good time we were able to get a lot of Grammy and Papa time in. They left Tuesday morning and it's taken me a couple days to just kind of mellow out and get my footing back. I'm already planning their visit for Christmas. With all of my busy work with the house and riding around for flooring I was able to complete the Boy's I spy quilt.  Well almost completed, I have the binding to put on, but I still put them on their beds so they can enjoy doing I spy. Which just

Playing Catch Up

Since I was gone the month of May, that put me behind a month on making my circles for the boys I spy quilts.  I was able to get done 41 of them this month (June) but still put me a little behind.  Here's a closer look and I'm not sure what my total count is because I haven't counted them in a couple months.  Seeing how I'm making two quilts I just keep on making circles knowing that I need lots and lots and lots of circles. I have this pile here of such cute novelty prints to make circles out of, which keeps my enthusiasm going. I'm not sure if I will have to keep this up until November or if I can have enough circles made before that and start my quilt tops. Now this month colors for the RSC over at so scrappy is pink or as she put that hot pink and some lime. This will be great colors for another baby quilt.  I believe I will do it in 30's reproduction prints see'n ho

March Circles

Well another month has past and another collection of circles for the ISpy quilt.  Over at Quilty Folk others have linked up what they have done for Quilty 365 . She had asked how many days we have and I believe it's around 120 days but seeing how I'm making 2 quilts my number of circles should be doubled that. For this month there should be 60 but was only able to get 42 done. That's OK.

What's up

Up on the design wall is my finished March rainbow scrap quilt. I can now say I have another project to machine quilt on, and another baby quilt to find a home for. I'm working on the rest  of my Quilty Circle 365 for the month. I found some new novelty prints at the Dallas quilt show earlier this month and I'm taking the time now to cut out I spy circles.  Not sure if I will get them sewn  today or tomorrow, seeing how I really would like to start machine quilting on the baby quilt. I've been looking at images online of other urban nine patches. Wanted to get some quilting ideas on how to go about doing mine. I had to keep in mind that I am a beginner and cannot get some of the patterns that are shown accomplished because they were done either on a movable long arm or by a professional. But nonetheless I have gotten some really good pattern that I am going to attempt Linking up at love laugh quilt .patchworkt imes

What's Up

Well after writing down my tasks of things to do today and prioritizing them, which I put sewing as one of the top three, as you hopefully can see there. I am loving this daily spread. I have it down to a page a day and I can change the color to fit my mood or liking.  I am going to work on at least the blocks in month 8 of the Farmer's wife 30 samplers quilt BOM from Sager Creeks Quilt Shop.  But up on the design wall I have some more of my Quilty 365 circles. Which were from a fabric that had Thomas the train and friends images on them.  The boys are big fans of trains and Thomas. And the last two corner blocks been appliqué down for the Words to Live By quilt I'm working on. All I have left to appliqué now is the center block Later today I need to prep the Pea Ridge Lily quilt top that is getting sent off to a group of hand quilters to be worked on for me. There are so many quilts that I would preferred to have h
