Showing posts with the label Scandinavian Christmas

Oh February,

Here it is the end of the month and I have more finishes than I thought. The latest two finishes are totally done. Scandinavian Christmas is quilted and binding on. Here are a group of pictures. I just think this backing is perfect. The other finish is what I called my travel project. This knitted shawl stayed in a bag out in the car. And has for about 3 years, but now it's done... YEAH Finish size is 26" x 66" RSC for February Plans are to machine quilt it in March. Then I finally finish the last of the RSC from 2015. Call this one Splash of Color , even thou I believe the pattern does have a name, just can't remember. Did finish a crochet baby blanket made from yarn in my stash Feels very good to have finishes. I hope you too had a productive month. Ready for March? Sunset this evening, lovely colors

Friday Finish

Boy this week went by so fast and a very busy one at it too. Mom has been getting stronger and lungs sound good. Her new medication has remove a good 10 pounds of fluid. Maybe she can now get back to doing more for longer, I mean keep her out of the hospital. I did finish the crochet baby blanket during this last time of hospital stay. Ran out of the white yarn so that decided how big it became. You can not tell by the picture that it is big enough, even thou it's rectangle instead more square. After I finished this I started another blanket but it's not a baby. Hoping it will be big enough to put on a twin bed. I'm using again yarn I had in my stash which means I'm taking a chance that there will not be enough yarn for the size I'm trying for. This is what I have left  Right now it measures 40" x 69" It's a ripple pattern all in double crochet. This one is too big to take now to Doctor visits. ...

Japanese Knot Bags

This morning I quilted some more on the Scandinavian Christmas wall hanging.  I finished another quarter section and I'm onto the last.  Now once I get that last section done, I think I will go ahead and do only the hearts on the border. That way I could go ahead, put a binding on and hang it for our company next week This afternoon I worked on the Japanese knot bags or you could call them reversible bags. In fact the website I got the pattern off of,  was a Martha Stewart website  and I'll put a link here for you and there's also a YouTube video that you can watch from when she had it on her daytime program So far I have three completed and one left to go.   From what you can see I have the lining and the outside of the bag left and it's just time now putting them together. Also as you can tell is they are all made with cat prints. We are all cats lovers here in this family

Making Progress

Been making progress on quilting. like I said thou slowly. Have another quarter section done. On to another   For some reason I can not get the pictures turned in the right direction...so sorry.

Darn It Day 8

I was so busy yesterday away from the house that by the time I made it back, I was so tired to write anything. Spent the day at Mom and Dads then had a class that evening. I've been taking our county's  Master Gardener program since last month. It is a 10 week course, which we are about half way through. Last night was on Annuals and Perennials, so love ever moment. While at moms I had taken a couple of the corner blocks for the Retro Air-Ship Propeller to work on . Have one more left to prep and I'll be one step closer to the finish. This morning I was able to get an hour in quilting on Scandinavian Christmas and this is what was accomplished,    outlined the animals and a portion of this sections frame. This wall hanging has been a pleasure to work on for me. Yesterday I realized I needed to do more for my parents and making more meals for them is where I can step up. Found a couple of cookbooks to get me started. These here are...

Pillowcases Done

It was a perfect day for sewing, temps were cold fire was burning, making the house toasty. And me in my comfy clothes.... So this morning while having my coffee and watching Morning Joe, I quilted a little more on Scandinavian Christmas I am such a slow quilter, thank goodness my livelihood doesn't depend on it. I think I might take Chookyblue's advice, go ahead and hang it up even if it's incomplete. After a few chores and as little as possible cleaning I went on to finish the Rudolph and Santa pillow cases.  Next step is to get them off in the mail to the grandsons. Seeing how yesterday I mailed off the first set, not a great rush, Friday should be okay. Did finish the binding last night on the Vintage Christmas and went ahead hung it up in the living room So cute and makes me feel the need to get the decorations down and put the house in the Christmas spirit, Now days the holidays vary from year t...
