Working Blues

OK that doesn't sounds quite like that, it's the blue Metro Twist. I finished getting the units sewn and have half of them trimmed. Was able to get the half that was trimmed sewn together. I so wanted to get more done this evening but I was interrupted while locking up the chickens. It was already past sunset by the time I got out to the hen house, I didn't want to stop working on trimming. Anyway I went out there and notice that most of the girls were on the roost and not in the nesting boxes but it is unusually warm, like a spring day. There were 5 on roost I thought, so I looked in the boxes to start counting the others. Figured I check for eggs while I was looking. First one I put my hand in I got a gravel sound, disturb one. Went on to the other boxes and found two more eggs. The girls are starting to lay a decent amount now. Then it dawn on me that I only counted one box occuppied. Well sometimes they will double up in the box. Looked in

Some Catch Up

I am at the halfway mark of having the cataracts removed and replaced with new lenses.  This was right afterwards, tape still on Had the right eye done and next Tuesday it is the left eyes. I had spent 3 out of 5 days last week visiting doctors and again the first 3 days of this week. With being gone so much I had very little to share as far as what I've been working on. I could get a little cutting in on a couple days but that's about it.  I am so amazed how quickly my eye has adjusted to the new lense. I can see so well in just 24 hours, so today I spent the day sewing and cutting.  Was able to get these block done today and it felt so good. Been cutting blue fabric for this months RSC 16.  I had decided that a would make a small quilt each month using that months color instead of a rainbow quilt. My thought is to have some quilts completed to give away, basically speaking baby quilts, I'm using Metro Twist by Sew Kind of Wonderfu

Just an update WIP

At the moment  I am a month behind on my LE and from following others who are making this quilt I think I will stay that way. I'm in no hurry or it's not a race.  And from the others I am learning techniques that is helping to make this easier. I appreciate all the work that Esther did to make this pattern for the public and very grateful that she offers it for free each month. As you can see I have marked the placement for month 2. Still need to applique the center, then comes some of the harder part, picking out fabric for next pieces. I'm making mine scrappy and I do have quite the collection of fabric to pick from. Sometime having more to choose from doesn't make it easier. Then I'm doing a pumpkin pillow out of wool.  It is a Sew Cherish pattern. A very easy project but I wish there were better instruction on how to make the various crazy stitches.  It comes with the transfers but no direction on how to do the pat

Yarn Along 4-10

Being that it a wonderful stormy day I have been sewing and now taking a little time to knit I thought I would show what I am working on. It is one of the projects I had started and put up and  found when going through my yarn stash.  It's a baby hat that I probably started when the "little dudes" were waiting to come and for some forgotten reason just quit. I'll finish it and donate it to the hospital the "little dudes" were born at. I have a couple more I have made to add to it.  Now for what I'm listening to is still the "Friendship Bread" Almost done, maybe 40 mins. left. This one of 2 book over a Maigold''s Loft  for the Reading Book Club. The first book "The Book Thief" I loved and recommend it to you as a good read. I loved how the writer told the story. It was one of those books you wish would continue on. And for this book it's not my type. I know this type of book is very popular but to

WIP

I just wanted to take a minute and share a little of what I am working on today. I had to mail the little dudes a box of new clothes and I wanted to put this cloth book in with it so I quickly stitched it up this morning I added the "Grandma loves you" And then I am working on Laura's quilt, had it laid out on the floor to see what it is looking like. Have some more blocks to make so I went into the sewing room to work on them. Came back some minutes later to add a couple and guess what I found   Yes that's Shankopotamus laying there so nonchalance. I bet he thinks I don't see what he did.  Silly Cat. I need to get back to sewing I'm linking up with http://www.freshlypieced.com/ http://www.sew-much-ado.com/ Go check for yourself and see what others are up to

What's (not) Up

I had taken my part of the Quiltathon and meant to give an update each day but somehow the days got away from me. I was able to do a few things and would love to share what I did. Then I will continue with what I plan on doing this upcoming week. Yes I know, Thanksgiving is this week but unfortunately the family are all far away and will not be here for the holiday.  Well on to some happy thoughts, I did get the binding on the Sunflower quilt and now need to hand stitch it down and when I get it done I'll post a finish picture and I did work on Ben's stocking each night. Remember I was going to show a before and after picture.  Here it is. before  After These little quilts are for the grandsons of course and they fit in with what I did this past weekend and what I'll be working on this week I'm still getting use to making two of everything.  I did not get my stash bee block done so I need to work on that this week also but did not pu

Finished and Unfinished UFO's

Over at Patchwork times I joined the 2012 UFO Challenge   that Judy has going on. Now I am new to this and did not get the jiffs of it till just recently. You make a  list 12 UFO's you plan to finish this year, (I'll put my list up here soon). I learned that a number is picked and you work on that one for the month. # 5 was picked for January and this is my #5    This is Vintage Memories (Garden) by Blackbird Designs and I failed to finish it in time. I'm one block short and the sashing/border. I plan on working on it along with this months choice (#1). Try my best to get it done.   This is February's  #1 my Hunter Star Will be 80" x 90" Now I need to also talk about what I did get finished and that is the Purple Sugar Twist It is twice the size that the pattern was, I wanted it fit on my daughter's bed. Now I need to take it to the quilter cause I want it done soon so when I go to California I will have to give to her. Then
