Day 20, Only 5 days till Christmas

4th Sunday of Advent    Christmas is just a few days away and I’ve been doing some last minute shopping and getting gifts in the mail, which has me running around.  I was again too tired to write last night.  I was able to make reusable gift bags to send my daughter’s family theirs gifts in.  It’s only a small imprint but each small bit can add up to a little bigger bit of reducing my waste.  And what a great way to use a little bit of my stash too. I did get my grandson’s Seaman’s Hat done. So cute. Here are a couple of days of Advent calendar. It’s going to a short because I don’t have much more to share.  I have plans to get some sewing on the Peace quilts which I’ll share. Till tomorrow  Kat

Day 18: My Christmas Quilts

I said I would show you the Christmas quilts I’ve made over the years.  I never started out to have such a large collections of Christmas quilts but I’m planning on making more to have even a larger collection. I also have a few tops that need to be quilted still and my goal is to get those done next year so we can enjoy them next Christmas.  Well let’s get started…. Scandinavian Christmas by Lynette Anderson  This is a vintage top I bought on eBay, the pattern is from the 30’s product by mountain mist batting. Finished it off by hand quilting  #39 Poinsettia  You can still purchase this pattern Love my Gingerbread man quilt design by Marilyn McSpadden.  It was a Block of the month at Sager Creek in Siloam Springs AR This is an embroidered red work one. Came from a book I believe called Redwork Winter Twitterings One of my favorites next Not sure of the name, I just call it my Snowman quilt  this one was also design by Marylyn McSpadden This qui...

Day 14 A little bit of this and that

Hard to believe Christmas is just 11 days away.  And I have only a couple of days left to get the gifts ready to ship before Friday.   I have most of the items finish but still need to finish the hat.   This is all I have done so far . Been working on it some today but it looks as though I better get busy. Did another coaster but no need for a picture, looks just like the last one on the loom This one Then I’m making these for all the book readers in the family (which is everyone)  we are all avid readers. Corner bookmarks. So easy to make and all you need is scraps of fabric..  I’ll be matching fabric to who I’m giving it to.  If you are interested in making your own there are of course a lot YouTube videos that shows you how. Or if you want I could post pictures showing you if you want me to, just let me know in the comments. Todays and yesterday advent from Sherry Iris yarns What a yummy bunch of minis, getting excited on what I can make with them...

Day 11, mask making and more knitting

Happy Blogmas I am so wanting some colder temperatures   These 70’s in the middle of December seems so wrong.   Well today I spent sewing on some new face masks for my youngest daughter and myself. My daughter works at an animal diagnostic lab for the State/federal government. They wore masks before Covid so it’s not a change for her. I made ones this time in Christmas fabric. Been meaning to get these finished last week but I’m a little behind schedule. I had made her 3 others a couple weeks ago. These are the ones I made for myself I like this pattern out of the other ones I’ve tried. Fit’s without slipping down and room to speak and breathe easily. Just realize how this could pass as a mug shot……LOL They are comfortable.  I found it on YouTube, I think the channel was called Japanese Sewing Book, free pattern for a 3D masks. Seeing how the virus is still around, I wear one indoor around crowds. I am due for my booster soon but I believe in being careful. Here is...

Day 10…..missed 9

This is my only tree this year   Missed yesterday, I had a busy day away from the house and was too tired last night to write.  Yesterday I needed to go to Tulsa for a follow up appointment, then go home to pick up “the man of the place” to go to Fayetteville to pick up the new car.  I haven’t yet taken a picture of the new one but here is on of me saying good bye I drove so many trips to California I lost track, good car which had 150,000 miles   Want to hear a funny 😄 🤪 😂 The last time I’ve bought a vehicle was 10 years ago, so it has been a while. Too long I guess because I totally did not give a thought to what to take with me….. Like maybe the title or the registration. They were professional and told me no problem. Mailed them off this morning.   Here are todays and yesterdays advent yarn and in the basket is the first  8 days  Short one tonight Till tomorrow  Kat

Monday Day 6 of Blogmas

Blogmas 2021 It’s Monday and sure felt like it.  I just wanted to stay home and keep busy here. But I had PT this morning, next week are my last scheduled appointments.  I know it has helped but I’m ready for a break from driving to Tulsa twice a week. I’ll keep doing at home what I’ve learned. This is today’s advent gift.  Loving the earthy colors so far this year. Hope it continues.  Sherry Iris has really done a beautiful job on these minis.    I thought I would share what I’m reading. I had read some of the stories back a couple years ago and I still have more stories to finish. I just love mysteries.  Seeing how all I have done today had to do with taking care of business I thought I would share a past Christmas post. I started my blog 10 1/2 years ago and 9 years ago I had for that year made egg recipes every couple of week and this one of those recipes. Peppermint Meringue’s .  Here is the link to that post with the recipe.  These coo...

Blogmas, day 5

Hello, it’s second Sunday of Advent  and the fifth day of Blogmas.  My day started out slow but very pleasant. But as the day went on I had more energy and was able to get some decorating done. Found a craft idea I wasn’t  aware that was popular last year but only just seen it now. So I decided to give it a shot.   But during my my slow morning I worked on my advent hat and got caught up watching some vlogmas’s.  I wanted to ask you if you know of any other blogs who are also doing Blogmas.  I would love to visit them and share what’s other bloggers are doing.  Please put them down in the comments.  While working on my advent hat, there’s a process where you have to catch a stitch in the back from the beginning of your new mini you started. And in the instructions it does say to use contrasting yarn. Well my minis really have no contrast to them and I thought well I’ll give it a try cause I want to use my minis. Well it was a struggle to do that r...
