Diamond Hexes

Day 17 already and in two weeks it will be 2018 I'm going to turn 60 next year, that just don't seem real. What is 60 suppose to feel like because I sure don't feel like I'm 59. Oh heck, I always said I refuse to grow up....a kid at heart. I said I would show more of Mom's Mosaic Diamond Quilt  I have 19 now done and a boot load more. I have found the fabric to use for the background hexagons. It's one of the Grunges, a mix of grey's with hints of beige's. A really good match I think. Looks good doesn't it. Then today before we went to take some firewood to my parents, I started on one of the gifts I want to give to the girls. It is bowl holders to use in the microwave. I have been wanting to make something like this for a least a couple years now. I am tired of burning my fingers getting something out of the microwave or trying to do it with pot holders (that doesn't work well).  I

No-Sew Fleece Scarf

I had meant to post this a couple of days ago but as things happened I forgot my power cord to my laptop at 30's Club Tuesday so I had to go back to Sager Creek Quilt Shop yesterday and pick up my cord. And I just can't go that far without making it worth my gas to not go ahead and go to the store and pick up whatever I might need for next week. With that said I did not get back until late in the afternoon and I hate to say it but I was tired and just could not get myself to write.  Here is the No-Sew Fleece Scarf I promised. I had made some quick pictures and they are not the best ( that should change here in the near future but that's for later ) and I gave the scarfs to my daughter when I was there. It is very easy and there is no reason that this can not be a gift that a child could make. You will need around a 1 1/3 yds of fleece. And the pattern you can download the pattern here    You can make them a solid or out of one fabric.  Or you can u

Pretty Gift Packages from Egg Cartons

I just love Pinterest, you can find some really neat ideas. Like this one from Better Homes and Garden It is gift wrapping your cookies in an egg carton with cellophane or decorative plastic cookie bags. (that's my 2 cents worth) So what you need is paper egg cartons, not those styrofoam ones, also I used mini baking cups, cookie bags that I found at the dollar store, for what else, a dollar and some Christmas trim to the tie the ends. But you can use ribbon. What I did is cut my egg carton into 3 parts, have 4 spaces for cookies but you can cut one in half for 6 cookies. Your choice. I lined mine with baking cups.      Pop the cookies in  and now they are ready to wrap. If you have small  delicate cookies like these, the cartons are a great way to protect the cookies from becoming broken. Soooo    Pretty

Future Baby Quilts

My prize came in the mail from Patrick Loose. And to be honest it is quite a coincident that I would win a book on baby quilts and I just happen to be becoming a grandmother for the first time.       Since my daughter is having boys I was looking for boyish quilts and I like these 3  And I have had this book for a couple of years with plans on making a couple of the quilts for what was my Grandbaby hope chest. Now they can actually go to the boys now  This Darcy Ashton" Bunnies and More" book Oh course we have to have cowboys, this is Oklahoma till next time Kat =^..^=

My Present Pillows

A week or so ago the Henry Glass Co. promoted a Holiday Blog Hop featuring their designers. I don't know if you have followed one but it can be  pretty interesting. You learned about the designers and most of the time they will have some sort of project. This one spoke to me, it said "you just have to make me". So I did . I found this at Pink Figs blog, this is her pattern called   present pillows . Click on present pillow to get her pattern. If you are looking for something unique to decorate your home, you might like this. Or if your needing a gift for one of the many parties you'll attend this holiday season I think this is a good one. I plan on making this pattern smaller to be a tree ornament. These pillows are being donated to a silent auction to help raise money for the Angel Tree and Christmas Food Baskets. We have an event called the Festival Of Trees at our church where the public can come look at decorated Christmas trees and other Chris

Santa Came Already

Christmas is already on the way here in Oklahoma, at least  it has for me. My Secret Santa left me a package at the post office. You want to see!!! OK I'll show you. Isn't that a pretty flower, looks like a lot of fabric went into it What,  you want to see more, love to oblige. I just love my bag. She picked a few things I love and represented them on it. My chickens and gardening. I don't think she knew this but I seem to have a lot of bags. I putin them my projects, knitting and at times my piecework. But that wasn't all, I love to read and she sent me a book that  she had written. How cool is that. Thank you very much, my Secret Santa. P.S. There were some Almond Joy bars in the bag too, but somehow they didn't make it in the pictures. Till next time Kat =^..^= P.S. Blog Hop Party is going on and I one of the many who is particapating with a giveaway but I also a personal giveaway posted the da

Pumpkin Pie in a Mason Jar

Today at church I had a thought come to me and unfortunately it wasn't  how to bring peace to the world.  We have singles who do not have family, are away from their family or have no plans for Thanksgiving, so I thought what about giving them a pie, pumpkin pie seeing how it's the pie of choice. But I was thinking a regular pie is just too much for one person. Then came the light bulb moment, why can't I make a pumpkin pie in a jar like I did with the cherry pie. That's what I did this afternoon, baked pies  I maded them basically the same way I did the other pies. I did buy pre-made pie crust dough and a can (15oz) of pumpkin and just made up the filling like do any other time I make this pie. I'm adding a little more info:  The jars I used are half-pint, wide-mouth Ball canning jars. That way you know they can take the heat of the oven. And if you do not have a pumpkin pie recipe, the one on the label of Libby canned pumpkin is a good recipe. Also I
