What's Up 2.26.19

What's up on my design wall today  I have actually a variety of projects that I am currently working on.   I have My Tree wall hanging up, deciding what is needed to finish next.  I'm working on the embroidery part, details on the birds and the flowers right now.  After I'm done with that then next will be the quilting. This will be hand quilted which I am looking forward to because right now I do not have anything in my hoop that I'm working on.  The other items on the wall is a crocheted Afghan that I started earlier this month. I must have a thing for doing crochet projects that you have to attach to another part to completed the pattern. This one will be circles, which will be attached to each other and then a small triangular piece will be then attached to fill in the space.  Have 6 of which I need 18 blocks completed. It will be all blue and white. Seeing how I had a basket full of blue scrap yarn to work with. This is one of

Unplanned Absents

I had no intentions of being absent for a month, but life happens. Was busy in the beginning of the month getting ready for the grandsons visit and helping Mom get to appointments. The boys were here for 3 weeks and we had so much fun. Hate that it was so hot already, not good for June and is rough on the pastures and cattle. Ben loves to build things and while I was getting in a little sewing he decided that he would use my rulers and rolls of toilet paper to make a secret fortress.  Quite a site.   So cute he was All month  this has been up on the wall I've made 30 blocks and now I'm working on the sashings Since I don't have a pattern I've had to figure this all out. Been a lot of adding more to what I thought I needed Have this portion of the sashing done but ended up over doing it.  Have too many nine patches now. My Goal for the month is to get this top finished. Figure this is plenty to work on

What's Up 4.23.18

Good Morning and a congratulation to Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge on their new son. Such a sweet family, the children are so cute. We had a good slow rain this weekend with no severe weather, which is odd. We have not had a tornado since last October here in Oklahoma. In fact California which never had that many before have had 5 already this season. I don't know but maybe global warming could be a factor. So while inside I worked on the Kith and Kin top. Was able to get two more blocks completed This makes 6 completed and which mean that I have 3 more to do. Went ahead and cut them out but instead of putting them up on the wall like I usually do, I put them up on the portable design wall. The wall has the Vintage Garden quilt up and I plan to keep it there until I have the border finished. This has scallops around each block and also all around the outside edge. Now the directions I have are a copy from the book,

What's Up 3-19-18

I haven't shown what is up on the design wall in a while. Wouldn't of been able to last week because I was redoing it. Before I just had some flannel stapled to the wall I took this picture a while back, before the rearranging of the room Anyhow I used the flannel again, after a good washing and had to get some more to cover the new way.  Which was so much whiter Purchased some foam broads, 4' x 8' sheets which I cut in half. It was easier to handle plus it was the only way I could get it home in the car. Now it covers a whole 8 ft by 8ft Floor to ceiling. Having 4 sections that are 4 x 4 Had to cut out openings for the light switch and one outlet. Not the best of jobs but it works and it should be covered most of the time anyway. So nice to have so much space to use now. And will not have to use tape if the quilt is bigger than the flannel was.  Have up the Dreamy Hexagons working on another one it's borders,

Time Flys

It's hard to believe it's been two weeks since I last wrote.  I have been very productive tho. I was able to complete my string quilt and love how it turned out.  Can't say that it made a dent in the strips. I also machine quilted the turquoise baby quilt. Nothing fancy just some straight lines and waves around the outer border. Now it's ready to be given away. Now I can say Yeah!!!!! The Farmer's Wife 1930 quilt is done. I did a different setting than the book and didn't use all the blocks I made. I'll have to find something else to use the remaining ones. Turned out OK Measures out to be 86 x 93.  So now on the design wall is my OMG for this month  it is one of the RSC I started in 2015 Have 10 blocks but I'll need six more to go.  Linking up with elm street quilts
