Getting So Forgetful

I had forgotten that I had listed a few things on the 4th quarter of FAL This quilt here was one that I had put on the list. And it is a finish. Yeah After the binding was put on I hung it up in the living room for the holidays.  I really enjoyed making this one. Another on the list is the Scandinavian Christmas  which I am still quilting on.  So I can not claim it as a finish.

Pillowcases Done

It was a perfect day for sewing, temps were cold fire was burning, making the house toasty. And me in my comfy clothes.... So this morning while having my coffee and watching Morning Joe, I quilted a little more on Scandinavian Christmas I am such a slow quilter, thank goodness my livelihood doesn't depend on it. I think I might take Chookyblue's advice, go ahead and hang it up even if it's incomplete. After a few chores and as little as possible cleaning I went on to finish the Rudolph and Santa pillow cases.  Next step is to get them off in the mail to the grandsons. Seeing how yesterday I mailed off the first set, not a great rush, Friday should be okay. Did finish the binding last night on the Vintage Christmas and went ahead hung it up in the living room So cute and makes me feel the need to get the decorations down and put the house in the Christmas spirit, Now days the holidays vary from year t

BRRRR!!!!!!! Day 5

Boy what the difference a day makes.  I don't think the temperature got above 45, that is 30 degrees cooler than yesterday. Brrrrr!!! Spent the day at Mom and Dads, and while there I started working on these. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/Affiliate/Little-Hats-Big-Hearts_UCM_487734_SubHomePage.jsp# Little hats. The American Heart Ass. give little red hats to babies born in the American Heart month..... February  I found this out just a few days ago about them accepting donations of handmade little red hats. They can be knitted or crochet. These are the ones I made today while at Moms. I went ahead and crochet these but I want to at leasts knit a few too. I am so missing working on a knitted project. These are small and not a large project. I'm not sure if my wrist would be up to a lot of knitting. There is a link that is located below the photo above if you interested in knowing more and patterns. Earlier this morning I

Day 3 Slow Sunday

Today I'll be finally getting the binding on this quilt.  http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/2016/07/vintage-christmas-quilt-pattern.html I had started this quilt last November, a year ago and did get the top finish but just with all the has been going on with Mom, I just folded it up and put in the closet. Then over the summer I took it out of the closet and to the quilter Had him just do an all over loopy pattern, nothing fancy Sometimes I know just what fabric I want to use for binding and other times I just don't have any idea. First thought was to go with a green to just blend in but couldn't find one that I like. I was afraid that red would be a little too over powering of a color even thou it was the color used on the pattern but now that it is on I believe it will work. But before I get sewing down the binding plan on getting some more mowing in and sewing up the pillow cases. I would like to have them don

SLOW SUNDAY

When you have a cold your day goes slowly, well mine has pretty much slowed to a halt today. Yesterday even though I knew I was coming down with a cold but I was feeling well enough to sew most of the day. It was too cold to go out and help with feeding the cattle and by the way we had 8 calves born this week. Pretty Red cows was not one of them thou. One of the heifers here had a calf today but I get a picture when I feel better. Update; I am reposting this at Elm Street Quilts to show my January finish. Thi quilt is at the quilter right now and wish I had it back to finish the binding. Finished the Vintage Christmas Quilt. This is my January OMG The pattern was well written and easy to follow. It shows when you have so many pieces to sew together and it measures out right when attaching a multi blocks to a solid piece. And I have to say partly to that I found my 1/4" and was pretty consistent. But instructions are great.

A Scarf, Trees and Sheep

The past two days have been a time of keeping busy. Thursday made it a week since the sheep have been doing their thing in the veggie patch.  Here is what it looked like the day they came. Now this is what it looks like after one week on them munching away. They have done a pretty good job so far. I'm thinking at least a few more days to maybe up to a week more. I'm thinking I need to seriously  think about getting a goat. I like goats, use to have one years ago and they make a good pet if that is what one want. Mine was like a big dog. Sweet, followed me everywhere and even would come when you called  but he like all the plants I didn't want him to eat. Will need a place to keep it in, that will take some work. Yesterday at the quilt shop it was "sit and sew". You bring whatever you wish to work on and bring your lunch. A time for sewing or something and visiting. Well I didn't take sewing this time, I took
