Good Intentions

I had planned that this past weekend would be like most weekends and that is "The Man of the Place" would be tending the cows and I would be home doing my chores and maybe some sewing. I had plans to try to finish up my Easy Street. But this weekend was going to be different, seeing how my father-in-law was not going to be able to help with the feeding of the cows. That meant I get to help, it's been awhile and I have to admit I have missed it.  My job is to drive the feed truck, that is loaded with 3 bales of hay, drive out to the pasture where needed and put the hay out to the cows.    Here they come, its funny about cows most of the time they will walk single file to where they are going and if one of the cows stop all the ones behind that cow stop too. No one will go around, they will just stand there and wait.   Someone is trying to sneak a nibble of hay, one of my jobs is to try to keep them off the bales.   I get 3 bales on the truck I drive.

Not much sewing going on

I have been so busy putting up apples, okra, tomatoes, green beans and eggplant that I have not  been in the sewing room much, but doesn't all these jars look beautiful.                       I have been trying to getting some piecework ready to take with me on the 3 days shop hop bus trip I'll be going on. So I'll take some knitting and these applique blocks. The pattern is from this book and I know mine looks like theirs. Sometimes I see something that I just love and I cannot think outside the box. I have seen example of this pattern in antique quilts in different colors but I just love the black. You do not see much done in 30's black. There is this one that has yellow points http://www.quiltindex.org/basicdisplay.php?kid=4C-83-402 and then there are ones like this one that have red points http://www.quiltindex.org/basicdisplay.php?kid=57-90-724 And this one has a neat use of changing the the whole look on this pattern http://www.quiltindex.org/bas

Home Again

Howdy y'all, My goal was to write each day I was in Colorado but between not being able excess the internet and being tried, it didn't happen. That way I could of gone into more detail, but I'll try not to make this too long, (ya right, since when). I was so tired each day from being very busy. And I thought I was busy here on the farm. It was a nice show and I met a lot of neat peoples. Some of those nice peoples were across from our booth, these ladies have a line of fabric with Moda, their line of fabric is call Sweetwater . I had taken a picture of their booth but it did not turn out for some reason. It was a really cute booth, I just love the color of their fabric. Then there was a shop from San Diego that was right up my alley, ALL APPLIQUE The name of the shop is called Amidon Quiltworks , it wasn't that they had really anything new, it was that the owner was very knowledgeable in the technique I like to use when appliqueing. She taught me a few new tricks and

Set Up Day

OK I can share some photos that I took on the way here to Colorado. While driving through Kansas you pass by fields of corn, millet and sunflowers, you know how I love sunflowers so I try to take a photo of the field while driving past them. This is what I ended up with Now use your imagination and tell yourself "oh what beautiful flowers" Then we are plodding along and before we knew it (yeah right, 8 hours later) We are crossing over into Colorado. Of course I had to be like most tourist and stop to take a picture to document this historical occurrence. So that was yesterday, like I said yesterday we were pretty tired so that was about all we did. Today we went the Event Center for the Rocky Mountian Quilt Festival to see about when to set up and we lucked out and was able to start earlier than we thought. This was the first time that I have been present to help set-up the booth. I have in the past just shown up to work the booth the days of the show, boy there is a l
