Plugging Along

This past month I have made a little progress. I have one of the Halloween dish towel done I have embroidered two more but still need to add the printed binding  Seems like I have more starts than finishes right now Did finished another afghan and I have plans for this one. Pete had to break it in. I am planning on getting a Class B RV, also know as a camper van. And this will go in the van. I know what I want it's just convincing "the man of the place" Up on the wall is the Hexie diamonds I have completed  Also started prepping the Garden Party quilt by Laura Heine  I wanted the feel of being at the beach, soft and soothing. I had some help as you can see. Till next time

Tomorrow is always a Day Away

I have been wanting to write all week but have had things pop up and I catch myself saying "tomorrow". Can say for once tomorrow is here and have so much to share. These past two weeks have been mainly spending time with family and very little sewing.  No I'll take that back, I've done a lot of handwork because I could take it with me to Doctor appointments and such. I have spent time in the morning quilting on the blue " Rocky Road ".  I can sort of see this one being completed after 20 years. Yes you read that right...... 20 years ago I started this quilt and maybe started quilting on it off and on 10 years ago. this picture shows that there is a few background spaces to do and I'll have one side done. Working hard to get it done. I have a stack of others waiting to get quilted. I did get all the fabric I had for the Mosaic Diamond cut out. My youngest daughter has becomed very interesting in wor...

Sashing and Nine Patches

I finished cutting all the subsets for the nine patches. As you can see, there are hundreds..... seeing how I'm making approximately 595 if I did my math right. So that makes 1,785 subset . . .  WHEW that is a lot, glad I didn't think about this before I decided to make this.  It will remain my leader and enders  Made one of each nine patches needed, 3 different styles..... had to see what they looked like. I'm a little giddy about getting the first step done and now it will start looking like something.  While working I took a minute to snap a picture of the bird feeder outside my window. The Goldfinches are such a bright yellow, pretty little birds.  Also seen a little later a young groundhog come up towards the house. Now this is unusual to see groundhogs so close to the house. They are very timid animals. Let alone come up on the back patio. He was a little bigger than a squirrel but he like t...

What's Up 7.24.17

My MoJo is back, in fact I just wanted to work in the sewing room all day.  But I had other tasks on my list to do too like clean out the refrigerator, change and wash sheets on bed, vacuum... heck you get the idea. Did tho in between all of that was able to get some sewing in. Started with making freezer paper template for the sashing. First I just used the one I made for both side and realized that it was off, not the same curves. Now I'm picky at times and this just had to be one of those times. If it wasn't for the fact that the look was frames around each block and they are side by side I thought there needed to be more even. So I did a reverse of template.  Like it so much more. Only doing a few will tell. Then worked on the leader and ender project that I have been working on the past year and pretty close to finishing the strip sets.  Want to get the strips finished so I can cut the strips into  1 1/2" subsets. T...

Bye Bye May

I know I have said it before and that is how fast time seems be rushing past me. Here it is the end of May and the first time since the "Little Dudes" have been born that I had missed their birthday. They turned 5 and growing so fast. They will be here for a visit the end of June and will stay for 3 weeks. That will be here before you know it. Even though time is quickly passing, I seem to be so slow at doing things and I thought I would be done with the flag quilt today. But I was able to have all the units made now. It took a little figuring out. Added a piece to a corner of the background fabric. I could not tell from the photo how it was constructed so I needed guess and measure. I think I have it figured out. Right now it a square shape that I added the corner piece to and gives it a zigzag edge but I plan on to trimming off the points when it all together. Part of the reason it has taken a bit longer than I thought it would take is ...

Just Slow

Woke up this morning with a sinus headache and felt  poorly. Ended up sleeping in which made for a slow start today. Did very little because of that. Did some weaving on another scarf I started a couple weeks ago, this one is with finger weight yarn both in the warp and weft. Using one skein, not sure it will be enough tho. I like how a variegated yarn will end up making stripes. Also been wanting to make some pants for myself. As I have gotten older, comfort take presidents over too much fashion. Don't get me wrong, I still like to look nice but not in the same way I did say in my 30's or 40's. My curves are not same so my style had to change. Today I cut out a pair of pants. Have used this pattern before and they are comfy pants. They look huge in this picture. But the front and back are one piece, no side seam. And yes they are loose fitting. Then did some stitching on the red birds. Have them all finished and tomorrow...

Lovely Slow Sunday

This is the first time in over a month that I've been able to slow down and do some needle work on a Sunday. And I'm enjoying every minute of it.  Today I am working on the last block to be appliquéd for the quilt "Words To Live By".  I have completed appliqueing the corners and the surrounding blocks.  Seeing how this a large block and there are lots of pieces to be attached,  I'm doing it in quarters, so it's easier for me to handle and make sure my pieces don't come off of the background. It feels so good to be appliquéing, and it's been a while since I've taken time to do some.  Seeing how this is the last block to be appliquéd I really need to start thinking and getting serious about making all the half square triangles that will be in this quilt. I would love for this to be completed and quilted by the end of the year. I believe I can do it. Linking up with k...
