What's Up 4.23.18

Good Morning and a congratulation to Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge on their new son. Such a sweet family, the children are so cute. We had a good slow rain this weekend with no severe weather, which is odd. We have not had a tornado since last October here in Oklahoma. In fact California which never had that many before have had 5 already this season. I don't know but maybe global warming could be a factor. So while inside I worked on the Kith and Kin top. Was able to get two more blocks completed This makes 6 completed and which mean that I have 3 more to do. Went ahead and cut them out but instead of putting them up on the wall like I usually do, I put them up on the portable design wall. The wall has the Vintage Garden quilt up and I plan to keep it there until I have the border finished. This has scallops around each block and also all around the outside edge. Now the directions I have are a copy from the book,...

Total Relaxed Day

I decided this morning that it was going to be a day of as little housework as possible, just the basic. Also no cooking.... total leftover and clean out the frig day. It was a cold, blustery day. Sun came out but still didn't make much of a difference. Stayed inside, lots of piecework, sitting around. Probably too much sitting around but it will warm up and it is going to be a busy week ahead. On the list for today was to add grey around this diamond Done  I also dug out the Vintage Garden top that is pretty close to done. First I put down on the floor to get an idea of how I was going to go about the border. But the light is bad and really didn't think it would work.  so I put it up on the design wall. The outer border will be pieced cuts. This was a BOM from about 10 years ago so I'm working with what I believe it's suppose to be. I do not have a picture of the finish quilt just a photo copy of he pattern or able to g...

Whats Up 10.02.17

Here it is October, just love this month. Mainly because our anniversary is this month. Up on the wall is the Vintage Garden and slowly making progress. I can say that it is 2/3 completed as far as the applique is concerned. Starting to come together don't you think. This one too has been in the making for a long time. Think maybe I started it 10 years ago or so. Seems like I have a lot of projects around here that been in the works for years. Sure feels good getting them finished. Did some more crocheting on the slippers today while at mom's. Have the heel done and now working on the foot part. Coming along nicely and will make a nice gift. Never did show you the cool egg holder I found last month. It holds 18 eggs. Looks so pretty sitting out on the counter. I know I have mentioned this before but as long as I do not wash the eggs, they can stay out for a month without any problems. One of the benefits of having chickens and fresh eggs. ...

Tomorrow is always a Day Away

I have been wanting to write all week but have had things pop up and I catch myself saying "tomorrow". Can say for once tomorrow is here and have so much to share. These past two weeks have been mainly spending time with family and very little sewing.  No I'll take that back, I've done a lot of handwork because I could take it with me to Doctor appointments and such. I have spent time in the morning quilting on the blue " Rocky Road ".  I can sort of see this one being completed after 20 years. Yes you read that right...... 20 years ago I started this quilt and maybe started quilting on it off and on 10 years ago. this picture shows that there is a few background spaces to do and I'll have one side done. Working hard to get it done. I have a stack of others waiting to get quilted. I did get all the fabric I had for the Mosaic Diamond cut out. My youngest daughter has becomed very interesting in wor...

It's Hump Day

This morning before I went to my parents house I was able to get the top row sewn to the Vintage Garden . Right now I'm working on the sashing for between the rows That is why it is missing from the today's picture. I took with me today some piecework. Brought with me the  Dreamy Hexagon center, which I had 2 of the hexagon circles to finish sewing down. Happy to say it's done and time to think about what is next to do. Had also started on another diamond for Mosaic Diamond. Mom is doing well and we are working getting strength back in her legs and arms so she did walk a little a few times today. I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out her medications she is needing to take. Was a good day.
