I know that for what little I've posted so far this year it's been mainly all about knitting.
For over a year now I've done very little quilting and that was what for years was my main creative outlet. I've been going through a drought and just had no interest or motivation but it seems as thought a switch has been turned on and now I can't stop thinking about what I want to work on.
Last year I started the 2 1/2 strip PEACE in PIECES quilt by
J Michelle Watts.
At the start of this year I had only 1/3 done.
This isn't a difficult pattern, just one that takes time because I found that I needed to focus on a row at a time. A lot of that could be I was still struggling with being able to comprehend it all. But as time has past, my mind is more clear and focused. The doctor told me at my last visit it takes about a year for the chemo to clear out of my body.
It's been a year now and I can tell a difference. There is some truth to that.
I can now tell you that I did get this one finished.
But not without a little goof up
Do you see my goof up.........
Yep I switched two rows, after a little frogging all is fixed.
I also decided to add some extras strips to both the top and bottom to make the length longer
.....Fixed.....
The quilt measures 82 x 74 now. Originally 74 x74
I just love how it turned out. My friend will love it too.
I took it to Cliff at Sager Creek Quilt Shop in Siloam Springs Arkansas to quilt it for me.
I have so many strips left I could make one for myself but instead I'm working on another WIP.
This is one that was from a Shop Hop and for the first time since Covid they are having one again this month. I think there are around 10 shops participating located in NW Arkansas.
Yep that's right, 2015. Not as old as some of my WIP's
You would purchase from each shop a block made with fabric the shops agreed as the theme fabric. Each shop would also arrange the blocks to make a top. You could purchase the finishing kit if you liked their designed.
I did and picked out the one Pam did at Sager Creek.
This is all I had done when I stopped. Five more blocks to go and all the setting pieces.
Really excited to get this one done. I'm going to give it to one of my sisters.

I came across this this morning and thought I would share.

Tomorrow's the future,
but today is a gift.
That's why it's called the present."

Sometimes it's a challenge to be just in the present but I'm trying to remind myself to.
till next time
