What's Up 4.23.19

I'm a day late but

I have had a week of no doctor appointments for my parents and it has given me time to relax and reflect. And the best thing is, there is not another one until the 30th.
The weather here in NE Oklahoma has been beautiful, unusual for us. This is normally severe weather time but the past few years it seem that, that weather has moved east and south.
So Easter Sunday was gorgeous and we went for a hike to see the Dogwoods that are blooming which are spectacular this year.
We have a little over 100 acres which 40% is wooded area.

We have many springs that feed into the main creek and that is where we went to see the Dogwoods.

This part of one of the streams has a deep hole and the color of the water is so blue, my picture does not give it justice.

Love this rock that has moss and grass growing on it in the middle of the water.

They are so pretty this year.

The lighting around noon is not the best time of day to get photos and I was trying to get a good one to show how rough the terrain  was. No paths, all was rough rocks and steep hills.
Good workout but was hard on my feet, I've been recouping from
Plantar fasciitis.  But all is good now.

  2. Oh. My. Goodness. So beautiful! I'm so glad you were able to get out and enjoy this amazing gift. I can almost smell the blossoms. These pictures could be made into gorgeous Art Quilts.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...

Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl c...

Countdown to Autumn. 18 days

After some thought I came up with a general "get to" list for a pre - Autumn preparation. I had mentioned a couple in the last post. I will keep those and have added a few more. I needed to remind myself that a lot of my ideas are a little premature hance the pre autumn and will be better done next month. So here is what I came up with... Deep cleaning is still on Planning activity for next month Decorating inside and out.   Making a fall outfit, sewing and knitting Find some new recipes to try Make a pair of fall or Halloween socks I will be focus on journaling with Autumn being the present subject.  Making sourdough bread again This one I have already started, Watching a cozy, feel good show.
