Time Flys.

Amazing how quickly time flies by these days.

Been 2 weeks already since I last wrote, and I have so much to tell you about.

When I last spoke to you, I spent that following week helping my youngest daughter move to a new home in the town she lives in. I was very surprised that after 4 days of packing, moving, and unpacking, I felt great. I figured I would be sore and worthless for the next week, but that wasn’t the case; just tired. Thank goodness because while at her place, I got the call that the contractor could start on the job of remodeling my kitchen. This is something I have been wanting for ages.

So Monday, they started working on the kitchen.

These are pictures before they started.  My kitchen was originally built in 1982. It’s dark, not as functional as I need it to be as I’ve gotten older. I want a lighter and more functional kitchen, that is the vision I have planned.

As of today, this is where it stands

We are doing our best without a kitchen. Probably be at least a couple more weeks before it’s finished.

“The Man of the Place” is very happy to go out and eat as often as possible.  That man loves to eat at restaurants. Me not as much. Having Alpha-gal is a challenge and limiting in the choices I can make.  I’ve learned to live with it since 1999. I only learned about this 5 years ago and that’s why I have had issues with foods. At that time Alpha-gal was not a diagnosed disease.

Okay, I’m starting to babble, let’s get to the fun stuff.

I have a couple of finishes, knitted projects.

First is the Puffed sock by Summer Lee Designs

As you can see, they still need to have the toes finished off.  Which is not my favorite part of making socks.  I’m a cuff-down person and really do need to try toe-up to see if I would like it.

In fact, I have 3 other pairs to sew the toes up.

Then I just finished a scarf I’ve been knitting along with my eldest daughter via FaceTime.

The pattern is a free one we found on Ravelry.

The Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief  by Orange Flower Yarn

We both had the same yarn, a DK weight wool.

I still need to block it, also have a few other finished projects that need to be blocked also. Just another thing that I have put off. I’m afraid  there’s a pattern going on here. But I’m not going there today though.

Lets get to the WIPS now

It’s another pair of socks, pattern by Summer Lee Designs.

These are part of her Cuff club she has.  Each month you receive a new pattern, all of them focus on the cuff . Could be a knitted pattern or color work one like these

I do not have many shortie socks and decided all of cuff club patterns I make this year will be shorties

Then here is the progress I have made these past 2 weeks on the embroidery project.

Coming right along.

Next thing I thought would share is whats from my container garden. And what has been produced and Ive harvested.

I have 2 patio tomatoes plants and they are determinate variety, which means I should only get a one time harvest instead of all summer.

So far this is my harvest

And I have one blueberry plant in a pot for so many years I don’t remember when I got it. But the past couple of years it has been producing a few berries. I was under the impression that it would need another plant to produce berries, but apparently I’m wrong. It’s not much, but they are full of flavor

I think by the time they are all harvested, it should be about a cup. Not bad for a neglected plant. I’m going to try to propagate some new plants, with stem cuttings. I will share that process when I do it.

The last thing is the book I finished.

Love murder mysteries, and this series is a fun one.

This is the 4th book in the series.

Haven’t started a new book yet. Maybe it will be another Hamish MacBeth book from the series

by M. C. Beaton. I enjoy listening to those. I can find them for free with the Libby app.

Well I think that plenty for this time

Till next time

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...
