My Sunday

I had a very pleasant Sunday. It started with a hike on some property we have that "The man of the place" goes deer hunting each fall. 


He went up there to check the roads, the deer stands and just to see what kind of activity has been going on around there. My task basically was just to enjoy a pleasant day in the woods.
At one spot near where "the man of the place" has his stand, there a spot
where the deer have dug it out so water would collect and created a little pond for them to drink from. 


Pretty clever animals. 
I had a good hike, enjoy the scenery, with the peace and quiet of nature.



When I came back to the house I worked on my rainbow colored scrap quilt blocks. I have this month color done for my quarter log cabin. 


Now I am all caught up for that one.


I have the pieces cut out for my railroad crossing blocks 


but I didn't have a chance to do them today.



Earlier this week I had made X's and O's  baby quilt, making my own charm pack (5 inch sq) of polka-dots and solids.
Simple "easy to make and I used one to Deb Tuckers new trimmers "corner pop".


I also finished sewing the blocks together for the Christmas Tree wall hanging using the Creative Grid Curvy and regular Log Cabin Trimmer


The pattern is one the Quilt Shop order from creative grid company that goes by the name Cut Loose Press

    You have some grat projects going on! Loving that modern one, really looks like an ok block one at a time, but WOWZA when you put them all together really dynomite!

    Looks like a lovely walk in the woods. Love your baby quilt - so cute. That christmas tree is great - my son would love it - he loves all things Christmas.

Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Countdown to Autumn. 18 days

  After some thought I came up with a general "get to" list for a pre - Autumn preparation. I had mentioned a couple in the last post. I will keep those and have added a few more. I needed to remind myself that a lot of my ideas are a little premature hance the pre autumn and will be better done next month. So here is what I came up with... Deep cleaning is still on Planning activity for next month Decorating inside and out.   Making a fall outfit, sewing and knitting Find some new recipes to try Make a pair of fall or Halloween socks I will be focus on journaling with Autumn being the present subject.  Making sourdough bread again This one I have already started, Watching a cozy, feel good show. So "the man of the place" and are rewatching PBS All Creatures Great and Small. In a matter of a couple days we have watched season 1. I figure we need to refrain ourselves and keep it down to a couple episodes a night. Today I put a binding on another quilt from the pile. ...
