Scrappy Saturday

grab button for SoScrappy

Last couple of years I hadn't participated in Rainbow Scrap Challenge also known as RSC. To think the first year I did was in 2013 and went on thru to 2018, so this year I'm back in but this year I'll be putting a twist on it. Instead of using my scraps on quilts I'll be making bags.

I will be making a variety of different types and styles.

My thoughts are to make ones mainly for holding my knitting or crocheting projects.

Seeing how I just didn't have my sewing Mojo last month I needed to make last month's color pink along with this months color yellow.

For January I had a bag of scraps with muted pinks, I'm a muted girl.

So I cut the pieces into 3 1/2 squares which was the largest squares I could get from the scraps.

Made a drawstring bag this time, I have have a list made of so many different styles.

This bag is big enough to hold the shawl I have been knitting.
On the inside I added a clasp ring to hold scissors and place markers.

Here is January RSC20

This shawl I started on the day I went to the Oncologist for the first time back in October. I would knit on this while being driven to visits, while waiting and during chemo. Now with the radiation Im not sure how that will work out. It's pretty close to being done.

This is start of this months bag.

Had this package of precut hexagons but not enough to make anything of good size. Good enough for a bag though.

Till next time

    1. Thanks and it feels good to be back here and in my sewing room. Will try to spend as much time as I feel fit to and do hope the next treatments are too rough. I’ll have 31 treatments, seems like so many.

  3. Great twist on doing RSC this year! Having an immediate purpose for your color pulls is a good way to keep your mojo motivated. Nothing like giving cute bags from one hobby to another!

    1. What a great point that using one hobby to make and use for another. Never thought about that before. I think it’s a doable way to be able to keep up each month. Plus my plan is I’ll a few gifts this Christmas.

  5. Your bags from scraps are a great idea. Different patterns for different challenges make life interesting. Your shawl is very pretty. I too enjoy knitting, the rhythm of the needles is so relaxing. Sorry you're going through chemo but I'm glad to see that you've planned a few things to keep your hands busy as well as your mind.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...
