Mondays What's Up

First of all I want thank everyone who participated in the Dots on Dots Blog Hop. It was fun and I had seen so many wonderful projects. Thank you for stopping by and for all of you who decided I was worth following. I hope to not disappoint you or waste your time. Enough said "lets get it on" For those of you from my generations remember that song and phrase. I was so hoping I would have more to show you on the William Morris Quilt but as fate has it I got so far and realized I did not have enough background to for the last block.  I am doing the last of the stitching around the applique. I'm doing this on the machine like Michele Hill suggest, seeing how her pattern was design with that in mind. Using a small (1.5) button hole stitch with Mettler's poly sheen thread. I do not normally use this thread but it is also a shop sample so I needed to follow the suggestion from the designer on how she has done her quilts. Looks good and it will be

I need your help, good or bad sauerkraut?

I need your help, please. About two months ago I made a batch of sauerkraut and when I came home from California I noticed that it was dark near the top of the jar. I simply don't know what that means, I can guess. This is the first time I have attempted to make my own sauerkraut. I'm not one who normally eat sauerkraut but I'm trying to add more fermented foods to my diet. I had read that homemade was better for you and taste  better than store bought. So I checked my books and the internet, then decided to make it in a jar. I did not realize you could and was so excited I could seeing how I do not own a crock. Now seeing how it has darken, I do not know if it is any good, so I'm seeking your help. The blue tape is showing where the brine is at. And this is what it looks like inside. Smell just fine, like what sauerkraut should smells like. There is no visible mold, bubbles or frothiness. P.S. I have had it on the counter the whole time. Shoul

What's Up; A Lot

I have so much on plate to do this week and this is after un-committing myself of some, so here is what is up and around my sewing room right now.. First of all I am doing the final steps to my post for  tomorrow blog hop. Here i s a peek of some of it on the table Come back tomorrow and you'll see what it turns out to be plus I will be doing a giveaway also.  It's like having snacks at a meeting, just go together This is my William Morris quilt and I'm doing the setting of blocks and putting the border on.  Oh so loving it. I just think this border fabric is  gorgeous. But today while my youngest daughter is here, we are going to make these little wallets. Perfect for her seeing how she doesn't carry a purse. Till next time  Kat =^..^=

Hen count, now 18

In Memory of Buffy (one of my favorite pics, her brooding with another hen) I lost one of my oldest hens last night. I do not normally name my hens but I did to a couple of "the girls" and she is one of them. She was one of the best hens I have, she was gentle, smart  and such a good layer. I just wish I knew what happened. She was just fine when  I put them to bed last night but the this morning when I went to let  them out of the coop, there she was under the roost dead. Something happened. I will miss her. Now if you want some good hens, I would recommend some Buff Orpingtons. You can't go wrong with them. I now need to think about getting some of them myself.
