Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm

I forgot to mention earlier that it's FNSI Go over to Heidi's and check out who else is sewing tonight. I'm going to work on my daughter's quilt  I'm going to start stitching the rows together. I'm making this a short blurb so I can get back to sewing. I hope you are able to be sewing on something too.

This is such a sweet story. Last Monday at a quilt group I belong to, at the end of the meeting there is always a time for show and tell. I look forward to see what everyone has been up too. We have such an eclectic group of talented ladies. A member named Sandy told as the story behind this quilt.  (I hope I get this right Sandy) While Sandy was visiting family she offered to make her young niece a quilt.  Her niece went and drew a picture of the quilt she would like that included her in the bed with her cat.   It included a short note;  Hi aunt Sandy i just wanted to thank you for offering to make me a quilt. Love Stella But she also went a little further and painted a picture of the quilt. I like the detail in the fabric strips. Polka dots, stars and stripes So Sandy had a good idea of what her niece would like. Help I'm getting ahead of myself, first things first What I am listening to this week in the book The Book Thief I'm on the fifth chapter right now and I can say I'm enjoying this book very much. It is told through the voice of a soul taker. Right now I can not totally put my finger on whom the soul taker is. Whether it's holy power, the devil or grime reaper. Haven't figured that out yet but despite that it is very captivating. This evening for dinner I tried just roasting the Butternut Squash in a little Olive oil and seasoned with minced garlic and salt & pepper. This was my the first attempt and I think I needed to add a little more seasoning.  Next time I will. It has been my week of flops.  Saturday I thought I would make some Irish Soda Bread for St. Patrick's day. Mixed it, and put it in the oven and it had been in the oven nearly the complete time for baking when I realized I put baking powder instead of baking soda in my bread. Needless to say it didn't rise and when cooled down it was hard as a rock. But when it came out of the oven "the Man of the Place" who was being so sweet because he could tell I was very disappointed in myself, said he wanted a piece anyway since I went to all that trouble. If you could of only seen his expression as he was choking it down.  The chickens sure enjoyed it the next day. I'm linking up with Judy

Well my goal for the past week was to get the cupboard next to my kitchen sink cleaned out of the cookbooks, vitamins and misc. and put in there more practical, usable items. So I decided that I would put in there mixing bowls and measuring cups and some storage containers. All of those items where located in lower cabinets and I found it be a " pain in the you know what " getting to. Besides they are items I use daily in cooking so it only made since to me. It did leave me another task to do and that is to go through my cookbooks and decide which ones I'll keep. But that is not what I want this week's goal to be. I want to find all the yarn I have stashed away and various spots around the house and put them all together and take inventory of what I have. I want to do this because I know I have a bunch and like my fabric I need to start using it up. Especially before I get anymore.

I went low tech this time to pick a winner and ask "the Man of the Place" to pick a number between 1 - 75 (that was  how many of you commented) And his answer was "how old I am"  ( Funny Man ) If you must know, to keep it honest 55 thepiececorps March 14, 2013 at 12:16 PM My grand-daughter just started reading Nancy Drew and I have been scouring the normal haunts(!)for older copies! My project and giveaway Here it is day 7 of the Nancy Drew is a clue Blog Hop And that means it is my day to share with you what was a mystery until just yesterday  But first I need to give a shout out to our hostess  Carol of  Just Let Me quilt  and  Madame Samm at  Sew We Quilt  ... When I was young I read a good many Nancy Drew books and I loved them and to this day I still love a good mystery.  Now if this is your first visit I would like to welcome you and hope that you take a minute and look around.
