Blogtober, day 6

Today I had physical therapy at 10:45 which meant I needed to leave the house around 9:30. After PT I spent time in Tulsa. Went to JoAnn’s, Michael’s and Walmart.  Had to get some batting so I can machine quilt two table runner  And then I was looking for some fall decorations but didn’t find anything I liked.  Except I did get 3 mums plants.  When I finally got home I put on the binding to a quilt ….. With a little help from Lover Boy This evening I m going swatch another yarn for my mitts. The yarn I picked out yesterday will not work. Need something a little thicker.  I’m tired after such a long day so I’ll make this short   Till tomorrow  Kat

Blogtober Day 5

It’s Tuesday which can be called To do Tuesday or Taco Tuesday and both can apply for me.  Made a To Do list just for my creative projects   Given myself a week to get the things done on the list. I figured a majority of them were doable, maybe the quilt top will be pushing it a little bit but we’re going to give it a go. I was able to finish the mug rugs and it didn’t quite turn out as I hoped but then again this was the first attempt at my own creation I did not have a pattern just an idea in my mind.  They are here drying So these were my practice ones. I’m gonna keep these but the ones I continue with will be gifts.. Mondays I water my house plants and I forgot to water the air plants  (Tillandsia) I have found the best way is to soak them in water for 10 minutes and drain. They say once a week but I have to admit it can be a couple weeks between watering   This evening we had bean soft tacos Tonight I think I’ll cast on the mitts. It's a free pattern on  purlsoho This is some

Blogtober; day 4

I realized last night that I had not mentioned what I decided to do this month. I had been watching some of my favorite podcasters on YouTube and how they were doing Vlogtober this month. It’s where they would post a video everyday this month. It would be what ever they decided on. Most would just talk about what is going on in their day.  Well I knew that doing videos was more than I wanted to take on but I could do this on my blog. And I figured what a great way to get me back in the habit of writing.  I have to admit I did not know this has been going on, on blogs. So it was not an original idea.  Here it is day 4 and a little something of my day.  I had a physical therapy appointment this morning but I had to cancel because apparently I ate something that disagreed with me. No way I could do exercises.  First time I missed and I was very disappointed. I ended up laying around all morning  but while resting I was thinking about what I could share today and it dawned on me I could te

Lovely day

This morning was so cool and foggy out. Just lovely.  Did a few things around the house but tried to enjoy as much as I could outside. I took my little loom out on the porch to do some on the mug rugs or coasters.  I have another one to do and I’ll have a set of four completed.  Such a relaxing day and had myself a nap.  And afterwards I did some crocheting on the Christmas Afghan I started back in July.  I have one more set to do and than the main part will be done that leaves the trim around the outer edges  Was such a lovely day.  Till later  Kat

It’s October 2

This morning we received the most welcome rain in a while. I think it’s been at least two or three weeks since we’ve had a drop of rain. So this morning while sitting on the porch having my coffee we were able to enjoy the rain.  I’ve been able to keep up my morning routine during my cancer journey, which is to get my planner/journal and write about anything that crosses my mind in it and then also plan what I hope to get done today. I also have a daily reading that I will do and this year I have been reading The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday.    I understand he has a new book out which I need to look up, and see if it’s something I’m interested in reading. So far Stoicism I can relate to as far as a philosophy and I’m curious to know whether or not his new book elaborate more on it.  Normally after my time of reflection and planning I will start my exercises which usually starts with a warm-up of a bike ride. I’ve been doing a mile and keeping it at a mile just for the reason that I am

Happy October Everyone

This is my favorite time of year and month. This is Lover boy I've been needing to write and give an update on myself and what's been going on. Life is good right now. I had my 6 month scan after chemo and it was cancer free. It was stressful time not knowing what the scan would show and this will not be the last scan. I feel like I should maybe find someone I can talk to on how to be able to deal with this. It's my new normal and there has to be a way. I do have have some physical issues to deal with. After 3 surgeries and treatments I was very weak and lost a lot of strength. Everything I tried was not helping and I just couldn't do nothing so I started physical therapy a couple weeks ago and in that short time I can feel the difference.  It's only the beginning to getting back in shape. I've also been trying to get back into the swing of things, seeing how "the man of the place" has retired and if you have grown through this you know what I mean.

Slow Sunday

Today I started crocheting on one of the projects for Christmas in July MAL over at Instagram. It’s called Grinchmas  here the link to the free pattern  https://www.whiletheydream.com/how-to-crochet-the-merry-grinchmas-blanket/ I’m using yarn that I had in my stash that came from my stepmother after she passed away last year. Very easy pattern to follow. Will be a nice throw for Christmas. I figure I’ll give you a glimpse of a few other projects This one I shared the other day. A knitted bag. Then I want to finish the Christmas Advent socks I started last Christmas  I’m wanting to try a new technique for me on the heel  an Afterthought heel. I had put it off because I just couldn’t wrap my brain around how to do it. It was so frustrating but I think I can handle it now I used all my Christmas progress keepers while making these. Used them to help me keep track of the rows. Then I’m making slippers as gifts.  I’ve posted the pattern 9 years ago here on this blog, it’s a free pattern J
