One goal for this year

One of the goals I have for this year is to make a dent in my yarn stash and one way is to knit a pair of socks each month.

This is most of my sock yarn but do have some solid colored sock yarn in another box.

I was working on this pair of socks that I started in December.
Had one sock done and close to half way done with the second.
But Monday while out running errands,  which one was getting the oil changed in my car,  I was knitting on the sock while waiting. But sometime during the rest of the day I lost the sock that I had finished. I do not have enough of the yarn to make another sock, so I just frogged it.

Since my goal is to make a pair and there is a KAL called #freesocks2020 on Instagram.

This was January's pattern on-the-fence

I am relearning how to knit socks and one thing I've learned is my tension. Started out loose but by the end of the first sock I've found my mojo. Ended up having a slight difference in size. It's okay, I can live with it.
I really do like the look of these socks and I would make these again.

For February's pattern woodland-walk
Finished these on the last day of the month and turned out okay

But for some reason, working a lace pattern, it took some to get the hang of it also. And again there is slight difference in size.

Love the color but not that happy with the yarn I used, not as soft as I thought it was. Here is the yarn I used.

Now for March

I'm using Red Heart Heart and Sole With Aloe that I had in my stash.
Bought it at Hobby Lobby, 4.99 a skein and using two cause they are 50 gms each.

This time I'm working on both at the same time. Reason is I want to make sure that they turn out identical.

I'm liking doing both at the same time. I know I'm not knitting any faster but it seems like it's going faster.
I'll take it thou as it is.Well that's about it for now but I have so many thoughts and ideas I want to share.

I'll be posting Sunday on the scrappy and slow Sunday projects besides a recipe I found and want to share.

Till Sunday

  2. Very pretty socks. Sounds like a great plan to use up some of the yarn stash.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section          The joints you'll need will be 2 - 3/4" elbows 2 - 3/4" T's 2 - 3/4" to 1" T (this will be the base of the Feet) 4 - 1" elbow Also need pipe cutters (this cost me almost as much

Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl cott
