Happy Sewing

I have to say one thing about the hot temps is that  I'm fortunate to be able to stay inside with the A/C on, it gives me more time to spend on sewing.  I was so tired last night to write that I'll show what I did yesterday and what I did today. I like to say that I have spent very little time outside this week and what time I am, is all about supplying the plants with water. After that I need a shower before I can do anything else. Have to wash all this sweat off, blasted humidity. Today while out n the garden I picked the last of the cabbage,  couple reds and one green. I see sauerkraut in the near future. Yesterday I finished the last block for month 13 of Farmers Wife 1930's Sampler  While out yesterday I went by the quilt shop to drop them off. I like to take the completed blocks to the shop as soon as I finish them. Don't want to be responsible for them any longer than I need to. When I came back home, decided to work

Thinking Orange

This month's color For RSC16 is orange, as many of you probably already know.  I love going to Soscrappy's blog and seeing all the wonder projects others are doing. Which is what I am going to do after I'm done posting this. I haven't started mine yet but I do have a couple choices to pick from. The first is a basic strip block set with a sashing. Like this one I've found on pinterest. Or......   something similar to the Four Winds Quilt pattern offered by Fancy Tiger Crafts Their quilt here is made for a queen size bed but I lik e the layout and I'm making a baby quilt so it will be different of course. This would make a great bed quilt. I have a good stash of orange to pick from and would love to made a good dent in it. Now over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict  she is helping others with their scrap problem, like herself. So between Soscrappy and her, maybe I can make some progress on my scrap problem.  I

What's up

Up on the design wall is my finished March rainbow scrap quilt. I can now say I have another project to machine quilt on, and another baby quilt to find a home for. I'm working on the rest  of my Quilty Circle 365 for the month. I found some new novelty prints at the Dallas quilt show earlier this month and I'm taking the time now to cut out I spy circles.  Not sure if I will get them sewn  today or tomorrow, seeing how I really would like to start machine quilting on the baby quilt. I've been looking at images online of other urban nine patches. Wanted to get some quilting ideas on how to go about doing mine. I had to keep in mind that I am a beginner and cannot get some of the patterns that are shown accomplished because they were done either on a movable long arm or by a professional. But nonetheless I have gotten some really good pattern that I am going to attempt Linking up at love laugh quilt .patchworkt imes

Making Progress

I have been working on last year RSC and I can say as of now I have 2 completed from last years group and this month's done too. Still working on last months. I have not worked on it very much but it on the top of my list now.  My curvy log cabin turned out nice. As you can tell I don't have all the colors in this one only 5 months but I also have to confess I never made all of them either.  So that worked out good. Don't think I'll add any border, like the way it is. It measures 80 x 65' nice twin size.  It will be perfect for a kid.  The nine patch I finished earlier this week and plans are to practice machine quilting on it and all the baby quilts I make this year. My goal is to get 100 hours in. I better get busy cause I haven't put in any yet.  I also finished this month. Same plans on finishing it.  I'll give them to the guild to be donated.  Linking up at   so s

What's Up 02.08.16

I'm tired from not  just having one project up on the design wall but a rotation of projects. Started out this morning with this month's RSC.  I went straight to changing out the walking foot I had on the machine for attaching the binding to the 30's Sampler. Which by the way I am halfway done sewing it down.  After changing the foot I sewn on the rest of the border, now it completed and ready to sandwich. After that I started putting up last years RSC's  I had 5 different quilts patterns, so started to see what was needed to finish them. The nine patch is ready so went ahead and put it together. Now this one too is ready to quilt. The curvy log cabin has plenty of blocks, just need to put it up on the wall in the layout I want, which I'm not sure yet. Spool blocks I think there are enough, now just need to decide if I will lay them side by side, have a sashing or alternate block to separate the spools. Guess it

Scrappy Saturday

Today was Dogwood Quilters Guild meeting in Siloam Spring Arkansas. Even tho I live in Oklahoma I am very close to Siloam Springs which happens to have a very active guild. I haven't been to a meeting in months but this one I just happen to attend was having a class on making the Migrating Geese. Here is a link to a good tutorial of her plus Deb Tuckers.  Over at Soscrappy  I'm joining in on this month's color of brown with an accent of pink. I had this so cute Eggs and Bacon with cubby Pigs fabric and figure this would be perfect for this month's baby quilt. What do you think...... adorable isn't is  Our teacher for the day was a member and shop owner of the local Quilt shop Sager Creek, Pam Goggans. Excellent  teacher and if you are in the area you need to drop by her shop. She has a quilt in the Jan,/Feb. issue of Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting. That is just her latest published pattern. I took my Featherweight to use c
