Unplanned Absents

I had no intentions of being absent for a month, but life happens. Was busy in the beginning of the month getting ready for the grandsons visit and helping Mom get to appointments. The boys were here for 3 weeks and we had so much fun. Hate that it was so hot already, not good for June and is rough on the pastures and cattle. Ben loves to build things and while I was getting in a little sewing he decided that he would use my rulers and rolls of toilet paper to make a secret fortress.  Quite a site.   So cute he was All month  this has been up on the wall I've made 30 blocks and now I'm working on the sashings Since I don't have a pattern I've had to figure this all out. Been a lot of adding more to what I thought I needed Have this portion of the sashing done but ended up over doing it.  Have too many nine patches now. My Goal for the month is to get this top finished. Figure this is plenty to work on

What's Up 5-14-18

I have two projects up on the wall Been working on the scrappy nine patch and mystery Winterse Hejxes. I've picked out the next fabric for group of hexagons but haven't prepared them yet. Figure I would take them with me tomorrow. Mom has an appt. I had last week finished the binding on this quilt. Pretty windy today, the quilt just didn't want to stay up. Did my best at trying. such a beautiful butterfly. I think its a Black Swallowtail.

What's Up and On My List

I mean't to write yesterday but time got away from me and then I just to tired to write last night. What's up on the design is a couple projects I hope to get completed this month. One is the Wonky Log Cabin working on 6 more to go along with the 6 I have completed. I am having so much fun making these. I really do need to make more improve. Plus it is such a pleasure to use up scraps. Then on to the other blocks up on the wall. Have 4 of the 9 blocks needed for the Kith and Kin Again this is a stash buster, using up 2 1/2" strips.   I have found a few nice patterns using 2 1/2" strips and boy do I have the strips already cut and in tubs. Now to the List, have 10 items listed. 1. Finish the Lime Crosses 2. RSC - yellow-   Wonky Log Cabin 3. Prep some of the outside border for the Vintage Garden 4. Outside border for my Snowman quilt ( I need to take a more currant picture) 5. Finish quil

Whats Up 1-16-18

I meant to get this written last night but we were watching the last two episodes of Longmire on Netflix. This has been such a great show I hate to see it end and it had my full attention. I did get my 15 mins in but it was all on getting the cut scraps organized. It looks like a tornado hit. I had started before this saving the cut pieces in plastic bags marked so I knew which size it was.  These were all stored in one of those plastic erect drawer units.  I do not want those in the sewing room now. Going to use the storage unit / ironing station. So far I have 3 different sizes that will fit in the unit and not sure until it finished what it end up looking like. I would like to think it will be perfect but I know better. Imagine that it will need a little fine tuning as I start using it.  For the past year all of this has been out in the garage not being used. Was hoping to get it all done yesterday but unfortunately my Mom was a

Whats Up 10.02.17

Here it is October, just love this month. Mainly because our anniversary is this month. Up on the wall is the Vintage Garden and slowly making progress. I can say that it is 2/3 completed as far as the applique is concerned. Starting to come together don't you think. This one too has been in the making for a long time. Think maybe I started it 10 years ago or so. Seems like I have a lot of projects around here that been in the works for years. Sure feels good getting them finished. Did some more crocheting on the slippers today while at mom's. Have the heel done and now working on the foot part. Coming along nicely and will make a nice gift. Never did show you the cool egg holder I found last month. It holds 18 eggs. Looks so pretty sitting out on the counter. I know I have mentioned this before but as long as I do not wash the eggs, they can stay out for a month without any problems. One of the benefits of having chickens and fresh eggs.

What's Up 8.14.17

Up on the wall this morning are a variety of projects. First of all is the "Let it Snow Again" top and the border fabric came today. At first I thought it looked a little off in color but it is from the same fabric collection, Cold Spell by Moda. And batiks can vary slightly I know but the more I looked I believe it will work.  I had also thought about putting a small border before the larger border. Haven't yet determined if it is needed. Was going to work on that but was asked to go over to my parents this afternoon.  Last night I was able to finish two more hexagon circle and pinned them up on the wall. Haven't yet stitch them to the background. I'll wait until I have all seven done. Oh ya there are 3 sashing pieces ready to applique. Need 12 together so have a bit to do still. Did finish weaving the scarf and now the loom is empty.  Got out the tub of cotton yarn and I think I'll do the fir

What's Up 7.24.17

My MoJo is back, in fact I just wanted to work in the sewing room all day.  But I had other tasks on my list to do too like clean out the refrigerator, change and wash sheets on bed, vacuum... heck you get the idea. Did tho in between all of that was able to get some sewing in. Started with making freezer paper template for the sashing. First I just used the one I made for both side and realized that it was off, not the same curves. Now I'm picky at times and this just had to be one of those times. If it wasn't for the fact that the look was frames around each block and they are side by side I thought there needed to be more even. So I did a reverse of template.  Like it so much more. Only doing a few will tell. Then worked on the leader and ender project that I have been working on the past year and pretty close to finishing the strip sets.  Want to get the strips finished so I can cut the strips into  1 1/2" subsets. That fo
