Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm

 Today was such a wonderful day, but didn’t go quite as I planned. My hopes were to spend a good portion of the day in my sewing room working on some receiving blankets and another block for the quilt I’m making for my sister.  Unfinished block just needs the outer frame like the one on the right. This quilt was from a shop hop back 2015 as you can see on the picture. I believe there were 7 shops located in NW Arkansas. Each shop designed a block.  Well I got part of the block done and stop to eat some lunch when “The man of the place” came in asking for help. His tractor just stopped while he was out in the pasture putting out bales of hay for the cows. So my job was to get in the 4 wheel drive truck and pull him in the tractor out of the pasture into an open spot in near our home. Well that all went well, took a while but then after that I went with him to go (which I really didn’t do much) to cut and loaded up some wood so we could have some more firewood.   Last couple of years I hadn't participated in Rainbow Scrap Challenge also known as RSC. To think the first year I did was in 2013 and went on thru to 2018, so this year I'm back in but this year I'll be putting a twist on it. Instead of using my scraps on quilts I'll be making bags.  I will be making a variety of different types and styles. My thoughts are to make ones mainly for holding my knitting or crocheting projects. Seeing how I just didn't have my sewing Mojo last month I needed to make last month's color pink along with this months color yellow . For  January I had a bag of scraps with muted pinks, I'm a muted girl. So I cut the pieces into 3 1/2 squares which was the largest squares I could get from the scraps. Made a drawstring bag this time, I have have a list made of so many different styles. This bag is big enough to hold the shawl I have been knitting. On the inside I added a clasp ring to hold scissors and place markers. Here is January RS

(Forgot I wrote this last month January)   I know I’m a little late but heck that seems to be the story of my life.  Hope all is well for you all and that everyone one of us have a better year than the last.  I had so many plans for December and none of them were able to happen. I knew that chemo could change plans and it did. It’s not all bad but on the good days I just wanted to focus on getting better and not make videos or write.  Then we had a Covid-19 scare when “the man of the place” took ill. He took the test and thank God it was negative. Plus was I blessed by not getting sick. He was able to be quarantine that week while we waited for the results. Took 4 days and that was one of the longest 4 days.. This treatment #3 has been less taxing on my body so here I am checking in. Next Thursday 14th is #4. There are 6 all together, which means I’m made halfway.  Besides being fatigued, I’m having the side effect of numbness and tingling in my hands and feet.  Worst right after treat

  todays day 2 I meant to write yesterday but the end of my day did not go like normal. I did well until dinner time and for some unknown reasons I felt like crap. It lasted for a couple hours, then I was better. Chemo I guess. Day 1 Was able to get the first video up for vlogmas but not a word on the blog. Day 2 is up now and just thought I would share that. I made some muffins tonight and I will post here where to find the recipe, its at Food.com and it's called six week Raisin Bran muffins. This is going to be short cause it's late and I need to go early tomorrow for chemo treatment #2  Till tomorrow Kat

  Hi there, I’m still here and with a story to tell. So instead of trying to write it all down, I just made a video. I tell about my now new challenge, and how I want to share my journey.  Which includes trying to continue keeping life as normal as possible and that means being creative. Added at the end of the video a couple of projects that I would like to complete.  A goal to shoot for.. I’ll be back tomorrow with more on this topic Thank you so much for sticking with me.   So glad I’m done putting these together. Can’t say I’ve enjoyed working on this project and still need to quilt and bind but really didn’t feel like doing that this afternoon.  Had enough for now, especially after I realized the mistake made and didn’t see it till after one was all completed.  Maybe you can spot it, they was no way I was going to rip out the block and move it.  Maybe my daughter won’t notice   Going to use the fabric that was used for the bow ties, for the backing   Have another finish.  Started this pair a few months ago, these were July’s free sock pattern. Very cute socks but I will not make again Used Red Heart sock yarn I had in my stash.  The reason why I didn’t get to quilting the table runners was I just couldn’t stand my dirty windows  Now my window in the dining room is where a lot of my plants are. And it is quite the chore, have to move them. As you can see needed to find a place to put them and the kitchen counter

  I said I would show more of the items I have up for fall/Halloween. I’ll be honest that this wall hanging is not quite finished. I had purchased this for a class on learning how to quilt on my domestic sewing machine.  Now I’m not sure if any of you are familiar with this panel but it’s called Pumpkin Boy by Thimbleberry, that was part of a collection of reproduce magazine covers from the 1920’ and 30’s.  I know that it was available in 2007 but I’m not sure if it was then or 2008 that the class was offered.  I have the center part done and still need to the finish up all the outer squares. Originally it was to be worked up to a lap size quilt but I’m just leaving it panel size 36 x 44 I have a spot picked out in the entryway. I’ve also been working on the table runners  I am so ready to be done with this and I’m far from it. I don’t know what the problem is but it has been a pain in the $&#.  It seems to be taking me forever to finish.   Isn’t this the cutest print. Great for th
