Just a thought

I was out one morning with the "Man of the Place" having breakfast and the waitress brought us our coffee. Mine came in this cup. Now I have done this many times and that is to see something and think to myself THAT WOULD MAKE A NEAT QUILT PATTERN.   I find it amusing.  How about you, do you do the same?

Helping Others in Oklahoma

It has been a tragic time for some of us in Oklahoma. I have not been  affected  by the tornado in Moore but there are many fellow Oklahomans who are. All I can say is that our prayers are with those who have lost  their  homes and  especially  for those who are hurt or have lost someone. We need to also remember in our prayers the rescuer and aid workers who are helping. I can not be one to help physically but I can in other ways and if you have thought about it too, here are some ways that will get help  to those who are in need there in Moore Oklahoma.    Salvation Army Supporters are encouraged to give online at www.SalvationArmyUSA.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769). You can also text the word “STORM” to 80888 to make a $10 donation through your mobile phone; to confirm your gift, respond with the word “Yes.” American Red Cross People who wish to make a donation can support American Red Cross Disaster Relief, which helps provide food, shelter and emot

Little Dudes 1st Birthday Party

The main reason for coming to California was to celebrate the "little dudes" 1st birthday. It was a wonderful party and their mother's did a fantastic job in creating a fun party. The theme they pick was Construction Zone. From the cake to activities for the kids was so very creative. I wanted to share some of the clever ideas they had. My daughter took a sheet cake she purchased at Costco and added some of her own additions. She put a couple of toy Cat trucks on top and added crumbled up Oreo cookies minus the centers. Refreshments were served in toy trucks. Fruit kabobs were named Rebar. Chex mix was called Gravel Dip was Concrete  Mix and chocolate covered donuts were Truck Tires. Activities  for the kids were bubbles, trucks and these. Small sandbox with construction truck.   They took boxes and covered with plain paper and drew what looks like bricks. The kids would stack them up and then wit

Hand Quilt Blog Hop

http://celebratehandquilting.blogspot.com/ I am excited about this blog hop, anytime when there is hand quilting involved, I just get tickled pink. So my quilt I want to share is my blue and white Rocky Road. T his one is what I call a true scrap quilt because the blue fabric is from  clothing that I made for my girls when they were little.   And my oldest daughter will be 40 next month so a good portion of it is not all 100% cotton, mostly blends.   I have so much fun looking at the fabric and remembering what I made.  I am using blue Coats and Clark quilting thread. It is a twin size quilt with Mountain Mist Country Rose Cotton batting. I'm about 3/4 done. I do a majority of my quilting in a hoop and as you can see I am on this one.   I had a few blocks leftover so I decided to use them on the back.  It almost looks like a whole another quilt. I want to thank you for stopping by and letting

Hand Quilting Blog Hop

I know I have been absent the past few days and this is why Grandma has been keeping very busy watching them for my daughter. I have been wanting to post some things I had planned before I came here but just haven't had the time or energy. But I do want to take a minute to share about something I'm very passionate about and that is hand quilting. Over at Celebrate Hand Quilting   There is a Blog Hop just dedicated to hand quilting It is already day 4 but you can still go back and view the previous days. I'll be posting something on Saturday for the hop. Hope you come back and see what I have been quilting on.

It's for the Birds

WHOO  - WHOO It's my day for 'It's for the birds" blog hop.  Before I start I need to give thanks to our cheerleaders  and If it wasn't for all their hard work this hop would not of happen.  Thank you ladies Now for what you stopped by for. I have a lot of bird related patterns, especially ones that are chickens This quilt I made last year from a pattern in Quiltmania. Then here are a few more patterns I had and thought about doing. But time wasn't on my side for a big project.  You see I'm going to see "the little dudes" next week, it's their first birthday. Blake and Ben, my "little dudes" Can't believe it's been a year already. OK back to topic here.  A couple of years ago while at the Dallas Quilt show I purchased this pincushion.   I thought it was interesting but what I really wanted was the pattern. It came from a shop in Texas,
