It's Monday and What's Up

Boy thank goodness there was something to watch yesterday because it took me around 5 hours to clean up 16 lbs of green beans to can today. I have had the first batch in the canner, 7 qts.

but every now and then this happens. Over time from use a jar will weaken and breaks. It was a clean break so the beans are not ruined with glass pieces so I'll not waste them and give those to the chickens.

So to what I'll work on while waiting is what I was hoping to get done last night and that is to make the circle for my LE and applique them on.

Then I have a binding I would like to put on my round robin christmas quilt.

I plan on taking this with me tomorrow to the 30's Club at Sager Creek Quilt Shop to work on between groups.
I just love how this quilt turned out. I am still waiting to receive pictures of all the participants quilts. I want to share them and how beautiful and different they turned out.
But until then you just get to see mine.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...

Countdown to Autumn. 18 days

After some thought I came up with a general "get to" list for a pre - Autumn preparation. I had mentioned a couple in the last post. I will keep those and have added a few more. I needed to remind myself that a lot of my ideas are a little premature hance the pre autumn and will be better done next month. So here is what I came up with... Deep cleaning is still on Planning activity for next month Decorating inside and out.   Making a fall outfit, sewing and knitting Find some new recipes to try Make a pair of fall or Halloween socks I will be focus on journaling with Autumn being the present subject.  Making sourdough bread again This one I have already started, Watching a cozy, feel good show. So "the man of the place" and are rewatching PBS All Creatures Great and Small. In a matter of a couple days we have watched season 1. Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl c...
